About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To figure out a way to work less and travel more

ABOUT ME

I grew up in Hawaii and have lived in London, Los Angeles & New Orleans. I moved to New Orleans ten years ago and I love it! There have been some challenges since Katrina, but just when I begin to wonder why I'm still here I have a magical New Orleans moment and it all makes sense. It's funky and fun and tragic and sad...but it's real --and I live more in one day here, than I have anywhere else in the world.

In my travels, I have hiked across Spain, skydived in Australia, and gotten lost for three hours in Venice (a block from my hostel).

PHILOSOPHY

Philosophy is best explored in dive bars.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I try to host someone at least once a month, preferably someone who is interested in getting to know me and New Orleans, and not just looking for a free place to crash.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was couchsurfing waaaaay before it was cool.

Interests

currently...rain, on the tin roof outside my room.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy seeing independent films, and I read alot.

As for music, it is all around you in New Orleans. Music will spontaneously erupt on the streets, sometimes it is kids practicing their band instruments for school or Mardi Gras parades, sometimes its a second line to celebrate the life of a loved one who has passed. Music is a big part of your life if you live here.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most challenging thing I've done recently was to hike across Spain (400 miles) on the Camino de Santiago.

The most amazing experience was to skydive over Australia!

Teach, Learn, Share

Secondlines! Brass Bands! Mardi Gras! Crawfish?! I cannot teach you anything practical, only non essential New Orleans coping skills...

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Austria, Canada, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Denmark, Fiji, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Vanuatu

Countries I’ve Lived In
