About Me

Welcome! My husband, Bob and I welcome hikers, cyclists, backpackers and others to join us for a meal and place to relax on your journey. As parents to a son who is cycling across the country, we understand the need for free and inexpensive places to stay and appreciate the generosity others have bestowed upon our son. To pay it forward, we would like to offer the same.

Our expectations: be respectful, we have children and they learn how to pay it forward through our actions and your actions in return. So lead by example and be kind. Clean up after yourself and use common sense. If you wouldn't do something in front of your own parents, don't do it here. Easy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We are an active family of hikers, cyclists, backpackers and outdoor enthusiasts. With 3 kids, ages 11, 13 and 20 there is never a dull moment. We have 3 1/2 acres with a huge fire pit that for those traveling with hammocks, will appreciate that they can hang their hammocks and have a toasty fire all at the same time. We also have a tight wire and a slack line for anyone that wants a little challenging exercise as if your journey weren't enough.

Interests

Backpacking, camping, hiking, traveling, cooking and hanging out with friends and family!

We're pretty laid back, have great senses of humor and love conversation around a good meal!

Music, Movies, and Books

We listen to everything from almost every genre of music. Having a son who once had his own band at the age of 12 that toured and played local restaurants and clubs, we became proficient roadies! We love music, movies and books!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Been on three 13+ day backpacking trips with my son!

On one trek, we hiked to 11, 711' on his 14 birthday!

Teach, Learn, Share

Since you are traveling, some together in groups; while we may be able to offer a warm shower and place to call home for the night, you might have to toss your sleeping bag on the floor or hang your hammock in a tree if there are more than 1-2 joining us for the night. We'll help you with the rest.
We are not vegetarian but always have fresh vegetables and will happily provide resources for those that are vegetarian.

We have a menagerie of pets that include an 8 year old Australian Shepherd, a 12 year old German Shepherd (who is a totally afraid of her own shadow, lol). We also have a Russian Tortoise, 2 Skinny Pigs, 2 Geckos and 1 Corn Snake, most all of these were rescues.
