CURRENT MISSION
“Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”
ABOUT ME
Hello fellow travelers! My name is Kimmy and I am a 22 year old currently residing in the endlessly entertaining city of Madrid. I studied abroad here for six months in college and have been yearning to return since then. I got a job teaching English with the Spanish Ministerio de Educación and it feels wonderful to be back in Madrid. Im grateful to spend another chunk of my life in Spain, its simultaneously familiar and very different. Whether its going to another country or just exploring a part of the city I've never been to, I make the most of whatever I'm doing and soak up the excitement of discovering new things. I'm very easy-going and love meeting new people, even if its just a short exchange on the metro. Traveling is a way to learn more about myself and others. Essentially, its a great way to discover more about this weird, sometimes mind-boggling and beautiful life.
PHILOSOPHY
After looking at life in the wrong way for too long, Ive totally changed in the past two years. my outlook on life has a lot to do with that change. I look around and see so much opportunity everywhere. Especially now, realizing how much of the world I have yet to discover its overwhelming beautiful sometimes. Two of the most important things for me are allowing yourself to enjoy solitude and keeping good company.Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child
of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right
to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the
universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and
aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful
world. Be careful. Strive to be happy.eee, gives me the chill everytime.
Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Couchsurfing is one of the best ways to travel. I will be in Europe indefinitely and would like to travel as much as time and funds will allow me, especially throughout Spain. I've had unforgettable experiences with CS and friends of mine that are fellow travellers have only had good things to say. I cant offer my couch now, but will hopefully be moving in new apartment soon that i can offer to those of you passing through Madrid.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have yet to host but have surfed several times. The times I've surfed have made my trips that much more fulfilling. Not only have I met kind, interesting people but they've welcomed me into their homes and cities, showing me the best parts of the place Im visiting that I may not have been able to see if I was flying solo.
Centres d'intérêt
DANCING! learning to cook new dishes, outdoor and water sports (i used to live in between two lakes in madison, wisconsin providing for excellent sailing/windsurfing times). traveling, singing so im always down for a good sing-along if the occasion is appropriate.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres
I just re-read the Great Gatsby for the sixth or seventh time and i was reminded of how much i love that book. Im now reading Cat's Cradle after being told to do so many times. music is such a hard question but i can really get into anything. my favorite band of all time will remain Led Zeppelin after i discovered them through my old sister when i was just a wee-one. on my itunes recently played: al green, aesop rock, stereolab, st vincent, wye oak, metric, das racist, nina simone. also love andrew bird, fleet foxes, otis redding, jimi hendrix, joni mitchell, the list just goes on. as for movies, almost famous, dazed and confused, anchorman(just always a classic), y tú mama también.
Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue
one of the most amazing and intense experiences of my life was skydiving in illinois. i went with the UW-madison skydiving team on a complete whim with a bunch of friends the beginning of my sophomore year in Madison. to my extreme surprise, i was not scared one bit. my tandem instructor was rusty, a 60 year old dude with a tongue ring, one of the most badass 60 yearolds im sure to ever meet. after the sheer wonder expressed by 30 seconds of screaming during the freefall, i floated over the beautiful countryside and safely to the ground. i met one of my best friends on that plane and for those who i knew already, it was a great bonding experience. i will never forget that day and the adrenaline fueled rush i had afterwards. it was one of the most high ive been on life and i plan on doing it again in a different part of the world sometime in the future.
Enseignez, apprenez, partagez
My best friend moved to Maui after graduating college. We used to spend every night in our apartment (which was suitably called 420 west) drawing and talking about, well, life. if theres one thing ive learned and have tried to exercise in my daily life its this: if you really, truly, and passionately want something with your mind and body, it will happen.
