About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Meet nice people, and get inspired by different cultures through travel. Make more art, photos, and videos. Working on a video series about the creative process. (Maybe I can interview you? :))

ABOUT ME

I'm a creative person, always making something. You can see some of my stuff here: www.kimberlylbryant.com & www.stopmotionsymphony.com

Been working online as a full-time writer for the past few years while traveling, and doing photo / video shoots. I've spent chunks of time in Uganda, Berlin, India, Egypt, and Thailand, with side trips to neighboring countries.

I left my home country Canada 5.5 years ago and haven't yet been back. I'll be there in September for the first time since leaving to attend my sister's wedding. :) I'm looking forward to seeing how it feels to be back after so long.

PHILOSOPHY

Probably 'live your heart' :) I do believe that if you can see / imagine something in your mind / heart, then you can manifest it in real life. Listening to - and trusting - your inner voice is an essential jumping off point. Not always easy, but worth it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm about to set off from Thailand on a new adventure and would love to be hosted overnight by kind people. :) I can offer good conversation and company, and possibly ask you to be part of the short film I'm making - though no pressure! While I don't usually have a couch of my own to offer up, I really enjoy meeting up for coffee or doing something like gallery-hopping around the city.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've met a lot of Couchsurfers while traveling, especially in and around Chiang Mai, Thailand—everyone's always really nice and has something exciting going on.

Music, Movies, and Books

I can find something to like about most music genres. Have a soft spot for 60s / 70s rock and world music. Love Neil Young, Arcade Fire, and lately I've been obsessed with Grimes.

Been listening to more audiobooks than reading these days. Really enjoyed Stephen King's 'On Writing'. A friend recently lent me 'A Fortune Teller Told Me', which is all about the role superstition plays in Asian culture: truly fascinating. (Then he took it away before I was finished! So I must find it again. ;))

For film, I love love love Tarantino, Stanley Kubrick, and David Lynch. I'm starting to watch more Tarkovsky, who is incredible. Also appreciate funny / light stuff like Bridesmaids and Chef :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Motorcycling around northern Thailand is still probably the coolest thing I've done . . . so far :)

Teach, Learn, Share

If you're interested in creative stuff, I can teach photography, some video stuff, and writing.

As for me, I'd love to learn about, well, *you* :) My interest currently is interviewing people for a video series on the creative process. Even if you don't consider yourself an artist per se, chances are you still go through a similar process, from dealing with overcoming self-doubt to defining what success means for you to making choices about where you direct your energy. I'm hoping to chat to friendly folks along my travels to get their insight on these things (and film / photograph / record it if you'll let me!) No pressure at all, though - I'm totally fine if you want no part of this :)

And if you're a photographer or keen to collaborate on a small photo project, that's awesome - let's talk.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'll try my best to bring respectful, positive energy to your space. I'm a good listening for life stuff, too, if you want to chat about anything. I can be nice company to explore your town, eat good food, and connect. You'll probably get sent some postcards after we meet, since I love to keep in touch with travel friends. :)
