ABOUT ME

Restless bookish tinkerer.

I used to be a web developer, I worked with a designer making websites for NGOs, charities, small businesses and the like. However client work sucks so am looking to do something for myself when I've finished said PhD.

Just finished a stint being community manager for a big LGBTQ/feminist/all that other good stuff video game blog. So I generally roam around being an antagonistic killjoy.

Spend a lot of time de-constructing myself, who I am and what I stand for more than is strictly healthy, currently trying to put all the bits back together and meet interesting people along the way.

Also Fretting.

PHILOSOPHY

Relentless self questioning and research, like to really get to the root of things and deconstructing everything taken for granted. Unpicking the roots of gender identity and identity in general.

I've spent a lot of time travelling around not using this website, and thought I'd give it a go! I'm finally in somewhere stable and happy to host for a change :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Doing a PhD has sorta stopped me doing serious reading. When I used to enjoy it I liked the Dune series, books about the board game Go, The Dispossessed, Stranger in a Strange land, Jeanette Winterson, stuff like that.

At the moment I'm reading stuff like Hellblazer, Swamp Thing, Uncanny X-Men, Uncanny X-Force, X-Club, AvX... you get the idea. Comicssssssssssss.

Movies: "Sneakers" with Robert Redford, You Me and Everyone we Know, Stranger than Fiction, Grease.

Music: Used to run a punk rock record distro once upon a time, so I could say stuff like Pg99, Discordance Axis and so on but nowadays its more mellow: think Yo La Tengo, Gillian Welch, Nina Nastasia, John Coltrane, The Books, Sufjan Stevens, Marnie Stern (OK not all mellow). And Sonic Youth are my fav band ever.
