Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm not a heavy-user, but I like the idea very much. Especially when travelling alone I like to meet or visit other couchsurfers.
I can also host guests in Vienna.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I hosted a few guests and on my last trip to Russia in summer 2013 I met some nice local couchsurfers in Tobolsk. I didn't stay at them, as I announced my visit to late, but we decided to meet for a personal sightseeing-tour - that was great.

Interests

Interestests:
Since childhood I'm interested in railways and other kinds of public transportation, now after studying civil engineering I also work at the railways.
Also other technical things grab my interest as well as mathematics (sometimes) and astronomy, but I'm not an expert on that.
Travelling is an important part of my live. My favourite regions till now where Europe and Central/Northern Asia, I'm especially interested in the countries of the former USSR.
I love nature and especially mountains, during my free time I often go hiking.
Of course I also like to meet friends, but I'm more a quiet person, so I prefer a nice pub or cafe instead of loud party places.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A really great moment was seeing a total solar eclipse on a high, lonely mountain in Russia - far away from any civilization.

And also my trip to North Korea was a great and exciting travel experience, especially because we used a route into the country which is officially not approved for tourist travel...
