About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Tasting the flavors of life

ABOUT ME

I play the violin a little. I like meeting people to play music with, stripped socks, eyeshadow, children, adults, cheese, colors, chocolate, dogs, time consuming projects, cooking . . . Anything "post" something else. That always makes me laugh. I like seeing how things change as time goes on and I move around. I feel like I am starting to get old.

PHILOSOPHY

You can do it! (Wait, what is "it"?)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Sometimes by surfing, sometimes hosting, groups and meet-ups and dialogues with all sorts of people. Trying to not solidify opinions into identities.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

check out my hommies! all wonderful, dreamy people.

Interests

Languages, communication, meditation, closed mouth chewing, self-attempted haircuts, rainbows, fog, whole grains, eating, stretching at the bus stop, buddha dharma. Stuff I'm not into: gratuitous PDA (not that I'm totally prude), airfreshner, whining, excessive TV time, plastic surgery.

Music, Movies, and Books

Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, Leila Josefowicz, Taraf de Haidouks, Hank III

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The midnight sun in Finland and its lush moss, Charles's and Lucka's yogic apartment, Petr's wino laugh, the color "caeruleus" (the blue, grey and green of the sea), graciously human Czech urban design, gypsy musicians in Cluj, rowing on a shimmering lake in an antique boat with 14 Russian teenageers shouting outloud together, "RUS! DVA! TRI! CHATIRI!", rolling 6 year olds into blanket burritos on the classroom carpet, the "Cat in the Hat" play, palinca on Christmas morning in a Maramures village, flying over the Columbia River Gorge every time I come home, hitchhiking in the West Bank, falling asleep in the sand on the beach in Tel Aviv after a midnight swim and waking up at dawn, misty temples on South Korean mountainsides, summer water balloon fight with Palestinian kids, sharing food in the park in Hollywood, meditating for a month next to a winter lake

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach: English (and various bits of other languages), vegetarian cooking, kid-related stuff, stuff about meditation and Buddhism and how to tie a hijab. I want to learn about goats, music philosophy, weaving and candy and cheesemaking.

Countries I’ve Visited

Cuba, Czech Republic, Ecuador, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Palestine, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Romania, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, United Kingdom
