Music, Movies, and Books

A wide variety, but some current favorites are...

MUSIC - I try to keep an open mind when it comes to quality music, but some artists on heavy rotation right now are The Who, Built To Spill, The XX, The Roots, Wilson Pickett, Stevie Wonder, Art Tatum, Arvo Pärt, Oliver Koletzki, The Stone Roses and Ted Leo & The Pharmacists.

BOOKS - In the fiction category, I'm a particular fan of Grahame Greene, Joseph Conrad, Cormac McCarthy, Haruki Murakami, Vladimir Nabokov, Italo Calvino and Tennessee Williams... though I'm always looking for great book recommendations.

In the non-fiction category, I really enjoy the writings of Ryszard Kapuscinski, William Shawcross, Michael Ignatieff, and David Halberstam. I'm also on a binge of books on psychology, cultural negotiation styles, non-verbal communication and economics... those are all related somehow.

MOVIES - The Thin Red Line (and generally anything by Terrence Malick), Wild Style, Pusher, This is England, the films of Jim Jarmusch, Wong Kar-wai, and Pixar.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've traveled around a lot, but still think the most amazing thing I've ever seen was my sister giving birth to my niece.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to talk about politics, economics, culture, psychology, social dynamics, the inherent irony and comedy of life... I can also teach you new and interesting ways to fall down on a snowboard, just bring a helmet.
