About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Meet people so as not to die ignorant of the immense diversity we people have created!

ABOUT ME

With an international background (lived in 4 European countries already), how could I not join CS? Multi-culturalism is for me a way of life, I can't imagine myself having friends from only one place.

I love sharing my passions: cinema, literature, multiculturalism, sustainability. Nobody knows absolutely everything about a subject, so even on some things I know rather well, it's always important to be ready to what people have to say and to learn from other people.

PHILOSOPHY

"Moderation in all things, even in moderation"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'll do my best to be a good host and make my guests discover the place I live in, and also I'll do my best to be an altogether enjoyable guest!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

CS is one of those things I'd always hear about from friends; now that I've settled in one city with a stable job I can join in and open my couch for visitors!

Before joining in, I'd already stayed over at CS's, or met CS visiting friends.

Music, Movies, and Books

Lots!

Music: Hardly anything that's on the radio. Plenty of 1950s-1970s rock (Deep Purple, The Doors, Pink Floyd), plenty of "world" music, electronica and mixing genres (Gotan Project, Ojos de Brujo, Massive Attack, Loreena McKennitt, dub, turntabilism), plenty of soundtracks (Howard Shore, Bernard Herrmann, Bear McCreary). Currently discovering Blues and R&B (Solomon Burke, Otis Redding). I also love going to small concerts of groups I hardly had heard about the day before and being totally blown away by what's out there!

Movies: On this subject we can talk about for hours. No kidding. *Some* favourites: David Lynch (Eraserhead!), Stanley Kubrick, Oliver Stone, James Cameron, David Lean, Michel Gondry, any Monty Python, Pixar. Blade Runner, Baraka, Back to the Future (tireless laughter!), The Godfather(s), 1492: Conquest of Paradise, The Fountain, Taxi Driver... Currently learning the classics (old German films like Metropolis, The Last Laugh) and Asian cinema (Johnnie To, Kim Ki-duk).
Also: searching quality TV series, only the best, not just to passively waste time. The Wire, Breaking Bad, The X-Files, Millennium, OZ, Twin Peaks.

Books: At any time I'm reading several at the same time: usually one non-fiction (history, or environment-how-to-get-out-of-this-mess), one fiction (same here, trying to learn the classics: Zola, Wilde, some theater), and one science fiction (in particular the "humanists": Kim Stanley Robinson, Ursula K LeGuin).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Coming up with, acting in, shooting, editing and producing short films with a bunch of friends on a super-tight schedule -- amazing memories!

Bungee-jumping. Been there, done that.

Finding lichen growing next to a lighting rig deep inside a cave: life survives anywhere!

Teach, Learn, Share

If the discussion goes that way, I love sharing my passion for ancient history (particularly the Mediterranean), history of cinema, history of the sciences...
And I'd like to learn manual stuff like woodwork or pottery.
