About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To meet new people and see new places

ABOUT ME

I moved to Chicago all the way from Russia with my family when I was 7 years old. Since then I've pretty much lived in and around Chicago until college. I moved about 60 miles west to DeKalb, IL where I spent the next 5 years getting a bachelors and a masters degree in accounting from NIU. In the meantime I've had a chance to travel to Israel, Canada, Beaver Island, MI, and spend a lot of time in Northfield, Minnesota.

PHILOSOPHY

Be happy, try something new, and don't hurt anyone in the process.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am fairly new to couchsurfing. A good friend of mine is an active couchsurfer and has hosted many people. I decided to give couchsurfing a try after hearing about his great experience and meeting several of the couchsurfers that he has hosted.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the coolest experiences I've ever had was visiting the Dead Sea in Israel. It is unlike anything I've ever seen before. The beach is covered in salt formations and half the time you're walking on salt. Being in the water feels like you're moving through a thick, warm, oily, medium. Any cuts or scratches on your body burn from the salty water, but they also heal the next day. As you get chest deep in the water your feet no longer feel the ground as you bobble up and down without sinking and being unable to go any further.

P.S. Peeing in the water is a VERY bad idea

Teach, Learn, Share

I spent about 7 years teaching kids how to play chess so if you're a beginner chess player I could definitely help improve your game.

If for some reason you want to learn anything about accounting I can most likely help you there as I just got a masters degree in accounting and am studying for the CPA.
