ABOUT ME

People familiar with the term "old soul" never have applied to me. I will always remain that bright-eyed kid who looked deeply at the bug crawling across the ground. I am still exploring and learning.

PHILOSOPHY

Discordianism, Zoroastrianism, Egoism- raised as nice Catholic boy in a Protestant part of the country things went very wrong. I miss the magic and pagentry of religion from my youth. Think my philosophy isn't too different from others, but I know the words to express it.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Four years ago, I was fortunate enough to be in a position where my best friend and I both quit our jobs. We toured the country for six weeks visiting family, friends, and friends of friends. It was an awesome experience driving around the country visiting tourist locations, off-beat place, and of course brewries.

My only previous experience was moving to the Bay Area at age 20. That year I travelled from NC to CA and back three times. When I later read Jack Kerouac the nostalgia of my own experiences really reminded of why we do what we do.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I don't know what I would place highest on this list. It gets pretty extensive at some point. Growing up I met Malcolm Forbes, John Glenn, and William F. Buckley, Jr. People like that used to come to my house. My family owned a marina where yachts would stop on the way though Coinjock on the ICW.

There were the places I got to go others view as interesting- Empire State Building, Quebec, Los Angles, San Antonio, Las Vegas, Portland, Mt. Rushmore, Disney World, Shreveport, San Francisco, Washington, DC- the list goes on and on.

But there were the other places- the Angel Oak, Haight-Ashbury, seeing the Stone Temple Pilots in Berkley, going to Games Day in Baltimore, making the trip to Arlington for the D&D Experience when they were launching 4e, visiting Sierra Nevada in Chico, or watching my best friend play a show at the Norva right here locally. I'm just not sure.

I'd probably get the puzzled look for saying this- but one of the most amazing things I have done was spent 28 months in the North Carolina Department of Corrections. Doing time is prison is definately an eye opening experience. I was in there during 9-11. I met some amazing people who had done some bad things. But I assure you it isn't like it is on TV. Not somewhere I want to wake up every day, but it was a positive experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

Lol, watch the TED talks. All of them. So much information out there. I really liked the Transcendant Man, The Revenge of the Electric Car, and Mythos (featuring Woody Harrelson) as sources of information I most often quote these days.
