About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To read the Silmarillion!

ABOUT ME

Laid-back conservationist opening the doors to any travellers passing through, simple as!

PHILOSOPHY

Variable. The world is tragic so don't add to this tale. Also, have fun.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I guess I'll be hosting travellers and meeting up with couchsurfers in the area. I used to travel with this system but deleted my account, I don't know why, but here's to repaying all that good will and great times!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Staying with hosts and meeting other travellers all over Australia!

Interests

Cycling, hiking, reading, chess, tattoos, kayaking and generally being in rivers and oceans, lovely cafes, botany, moth trapping...hrm, trying to make things from wood (which in fact only amounts to cutting my own walking sticks, but the thought is what counts right?).

Music, Movies, and Books

Classics - War and Peace, Ring of Bright Water, Lonesome Traveller, Dharma Bums, Death of Ivan Ilyich...anything of the Middle-Earth saga!

Travelling tales like Jupiter's Travels, A Gringo's Journey, A Walk Across America, Paddle to the Amazon, Travels on my Elephant...the list goes on.

Films by Wes Anderson and Quentin Tarantino..always a treat.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Cycled across El Camino de Santiago and finally resting on the beach after two and a half weeks, looking out from my tent at the end of the world - Finisterre! Also various other bike rides across Britain.

Teach, Learn, Share

Know a fair bit about various aspects of natural history & the wildlife of the UK; used to study Buddhism and kind of know a bit but mostly I forgot what I read and just enjoy pretending to be an expert. Anybody who actually knows something about it is most welcome.

I love card games, always happy to play new ones and teach what I know.

What I'd like to learn? Repairing bicycles and anything to do with Tibetan culture.

Countries I’ve Visited

Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, France, Greece, Morocco, Spain, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

France, United Kingdom
