ABOUT ME

Well, I'm a 25 year old Canadian girl in search of everything. I love travelling and the challenge and excitement of moving to a new place. I'm currently living and teaching in Turkey, which is proving to be an education in itself!
I love teaching, and I think I'm lucky to be working in a profession which I'm passionate about. I have taught in 3 different countries, and I'm hoping to be able to teach in many more.
I am learning to cook vegetarian food, and I make killer falafel and pretty good bean burgers.
I love animals, I am involved with an organization that helps homeless animals in Ankara and adopted my kitty this way.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I left my small town and moved to London in 2009 with one suitcase, sleeping on the floor of a friend of a friend. I pounded the pavement and scoured the internet looking for a job, and ended up being offered a job teaching grade 5 in a failing school in an impoverished Nigerian community in Greater London. I helped the children take pride in their work, get excited about learning and raise their test scores. By the end of the year, my students (who once crawled around on the floor, locked each other in the cloak room and ran away from school via the fire escape from my classroom) won awards, won talent shows and earned places in prestigeous grammar schools. One proud teacher here!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach English or French, or be a conversation partner for someone looking to practice. I'm always looking to learn new words or sayings in Turkish, and if someone would give me a couple pointers on photography that would be cool.
