One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Kirby: I arrived in Agra (India) on Friday--the day the Taj Mahal is closed. Instead, I spent the day traveling to the old city, Fatehpur Sikri. We drove on a sometimes-paved road full of many different types of people. The mustard fields were in bloom, the sun was shining, and the colors were brilliant. On the way back in to the city, our driver took us to a riverbank. As we rounded the corner of the path, I saw the Taj. The sun was setting and everything had a golden glow. I feel like I met the real Agra that day.

Rebecca: I woke up early to hike the Great Wall of China with friends. We had to follow a winding trail to go to the wall. The mist was hanging so low that we could barely see. Suddenly, there was the wall. It was massive, solid, and felt very heavy. On the wall, we could not see far ahead. We experienced each moment in the present. It was liberating. As the day passed, the fog lifted and the mountains became visible. It looked like a surreal version of a painting.
