About Me

I’m Kirra, travel enthusiast (who isn’t?) and I returned from a two year trip abroad earlier last year.

My partner Jonas and I live just a few kilometres outside the CBD in a historic neighbourhood. Given that he is Swedish, we are often out exploring new places around Victoria and have more than enough room for our couchsurfers to join.

We are both passionate travellers - Jonas has cycled from his hometown in northern Sweden down to Morocco, and I have lived in both Istanbul and Kiev during my time overseas.

We are happy to host or meet up with other travellers, and our place is super convenient with trains, buses and trams all within a short walk - or you can walk to the city on a nice day. We’re pretty close to everything!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’ve couchsurfed with quite a few people on my travels in different countries, both on this website and externally and I found it a great experience - I really got to see things and understand a side of a country that would have been otherwise hidden to me.

I’m also settled in Melbourne for now, so hosting other travellers is a good way to travel vicariously and hear exciting stories about people/places/awkward hitchhiking gone wrong haha.

Interests

-I’m a big fan of wine - I often have a bottle ready to open for ‘emergencies :)
-We often go to different bars for trivia and beers, couchsurfers welcome to join (we need all the help we can get)
-We like to go hiking and explore new places, and we have a puppy called Pippa - I hope you like adorable, fluffy good girls!

Music, Movies, and Books

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiked up the median strip of a highway to walk across an international border in the middle of the night after hitchhiking didn't work out so well.

Camped in -8 degree weather in the Kyrgyzstan mountains in a summer tent and somehow lived to tell the tale.

Fell and slipped on a banana peel. No joke.

Teach, Learn, Share

-They say those who can’t do, teach, so I guess I should be able to teach you a lot.
-Given that Jonas is Swedish, we can teach you about moose, snow and of course the Swedish language.
-I can also teach about the different kinds of characters you’ll be likely to meet as you travel around of Australia, and recommend places to go (Tasmania, definitely).
-Happy to share our home, dinner and a beer or two :)
