About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To hear stories about all the places I haven't yet travelled to!

ABOUT ME

My nickname is Gizmo :)
Music is my life-long love and passion!
I also love culture. It's what I seek when I travel: learning about new cultures, languages, people - authentic experiences. At home, I love culture by way of good food, wine, music, and colourful people. :)

I started travelling at the tender age of 17, when I went to Switzerland for one year on exchange. I used every available weekend and school holiday to travel every inch of the country and then to venture further abroad. A few years later, I went back to Europe and stayed in Berlin (my favourite ever city) and did the same again. It's safe to say that there is plenty of travelling left in me yet!

Nowadays, I work full-time as a public servant and am studying honours in psychology as well. In my free time, I'm busy writing songs in preparation for recording an EP! I also love catching up with friends for a drink or just flopping on the couch to watch a film for a bit of down-time :)

PHILOSOPHY

Marcel Proust says: 'The real act of discovery consists not in finding new lands but in seeing with new eyes.' I always keep this thought in mind.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Attending a traditional engagement party for a Black Thai couple in the northern mountains of Vietnam. I was welcomed in to their stilt house to eat and drink with them all afternoon, with everyone in traditional costume. I even met one elderly man who had never met a Western foreigner in his life...I think I made his day :)
