About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To expand my horizons in Bristol, my new home town.

Work hard, but play harder. By play I mean travel, eat, drink and be merry.

ABOUT ME

I am outgoing, creative and energetic. I am caring and respectful, it goes with the job-I work as a nurse. I enjoy experiencing new things and challenging my phobias. I love the world and am addicted to seeing more of it.

I love nature and going off the beaten track to experience it. The sound of birdsong excites me-I aspire to be an ornithologist in my Middle Ages, mainly because it a great excuse to continue travelling as beautiful birds are in beautiful places. Although I am scared of heights mountains make me very happy.

Music is a big part of my life at home and I am a frequent festival goer. I embrace any opportunity to be ridiculous and wear crazy clothes/wigs/nothing at all/body paint/fancy dress.

I am pretty activeI cycle everywhere and go running when I can. I also like swimming and bouldering. I try to maintain a good level of fitness as I travel by getting involved with hiking or physical activity in every place I visit. And I love trying new ways to exert myself.

I am partial to a drink (or 6), but when I travel my main focus is to enjoy the place I am in an authentic way with the locals. If it involves having a few drinks I'll certainly join, but I'm not here to get caught up in partying with other backpackers every night.

PHILOSOPHY

Positivity because anything approached with negativity is more likely to fail and more likely you will give up on it.

Since travelling South America I have adopted the philosophy 'PORQUE NON?!' It hasn't failed me so far.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have couch surfed and met some incredible hosts, and when I have my own home I try to return the favour-I hosted people at my flat in London before returning to my nomadic ways.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have couchsurfed myself and been host to couch surfers. I think it is the best way to travel and see a place with more depth than as a standard tourist. I love introducing my guests to hidden gems of London and to share my love for where I live

Music, Movies, and Books

I love live music, instruments and people who enjoy making music. It is a big part of my life at home. Jazz, blues, soul, reggae, swing, ska, folk, rock.
If you know Caravan Palace we will definitely get along-they are the theme tune to my life. Other favourites-Regina Spector, Basement Jaxx, Louis Armstrong and the Mills brothers, Parov Stellar, Birdy, Yanns Tiersmen, Cinemari Orchestra, Sigur Ros, Tryo, Lauren Hill....as you can an eclectic mix.

I prefer books to movies, and actual books to electronic ones. Fantasy, mystery, historical fiction, travel writing. Irvin Welsh, Jodie Picoult, Bill Bryson, Ben Elton, Maggie O'Farrel, J.K.Rowling, Sebastian Faulks.

I like comic book films, fantasy and documentaries.....again quite a varied taste.
