About Me

Hi :)
Im a 27yo aussie/american/kiwi hybrid, I left oz at the beginning of 2016 to have a bit of a world explore. I was working on a Masters in marine genetics in tropical north Queensland and took some time in hawaii before having to adult. Actually I may never adult. But I did find my way to Auckland, New Zealand to finish school, and I've only got one year left, going strong! Still don't plan to adult.
Started my wandering in Central America, then impulse decisioned and bought a ticket to london and did europe too! I spent some Hawaii days hiking and exploring, seriously Oahu is magical, so many hidden treasures in such a small area it's fantastic. Island life is definitely the life for me. Im very chill, love to get lost and say yes to things, chat and dive in to local culture, especially if it involves food!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Ive heard so many good things about couch surfing experiences, and there seems to be a subculture in backpacking at the moment which revolves more around touristing and partying than travelling to experience local culture - couchsurfing puts me closer to the culture side of things:) . When I started I wanted to avoid the mainstream big backpacker hostels and see what the natives see. So far everywhere I've stayed has been an absolute dream, and has proven to me that there is hope for humans with a community so accepting and welcoming and generous as this.

So far have been hosted in Amsterdam (aboard a pirate vessel being remodeled and moored in the canal!), in London, Berlin, and Lyon and Paris in France. It's nuts. How did I live without this sort of beautiful way to connect with humans before a year or two ago? Everywhere I go I would love to stay with some couchsurfers, and everywhere I live I can't wait to host.

As soon as I put down my pack somewhere in the world I plan to play tour guide to couch surfers as well - last year opened my eyes to how wonderful it can be to be able to regularly talk to people of different countries and cultural backgrounds, I love it. Love love love it.

Interests

I love to cook, especially to learn local cuisine and combine it with my current paleo lifestyle.
Can usually find me wandering into whatever local cafe looks busy with some sort of science fiction novel and settling down with a strong black coffee to zen out before whatever randomness I impulsively partake in. My favorite is walking along asking vendors and passersby what a good direction to walk in next is. So far only fun and interesting things have resulted. No planning is the best planning.

Music, Movies, and Books

I can love and appreciate almost all music, classical to alternative to electronic to metal, it's all in my ipod. Central/south american reggaton has been rubbing off on me lately, and in January you will find me following the Australian Triple J top 100 countdown for Australia Day! Aussie aussie aussie :D
Books in my arsenal are usually some sort of crime thriller or fantasy.. my favorite are the post apocalyptic type books.. it's interesting to see what different writer's takes are on how humanity will play out

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I met George RR Martin in the Sydney Opera House in 2014 - BIG FAN :D
Hiked up a volcano in Costa Rica from midnight to 6am to catch a summit sunrise
Ran my first marathon in 2011 in Melbourne, Australia.. and by first I mean most likely first and last, or maybe next will be a triathlon
Woke up on a pontoon in Waimanalo Bay, Oahu looking at the Koko Head volcano
