About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I'm on the trip of a lifetime with my boyfriend, Dale, and we're travelling around the world! I want to meet new friends across the globe who can teach us all about the places they live and (hopefully) give us a safe place to crash! I document all of our travels on our blog twotravellerstales.com

ABOUT ME

I'm an easy-going chocoholic from England who's taking on the world and writing about it in a blog.

I've been travelling since May 2014 and always find my travels most rewarding when I meet a new friend who can give me real insight into their life.

PHILOSOPHY

At the moment my philosophy is to live for each day and make the most of each experience as it comes...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

At the moment, I'm looking to learn about new places, cultures and ways of life by couchsurfing on my travels. But I hope that, when I've found a place to settle, I will be able to return the favour!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Setting up my profile from scratch while I've been travelling has been challenging, and I haven't had the pleasure of surfing or hosting yet - but I'm hoping to be able to put something here very soon...

Interests

I'm interested in nearly anything and everything. I'm a people person and love to hear stories about other's lives. In general though, my favourite things are:
- Chocolate
- Coca Cola (I know, I know, it's awful!)
- My family
- My friends
- Watching films
- Eating amazing food
- Getting out of my comfort zone and trying new things

- Most Disney films (eg Jungle Book, Lion King etc)
- The secret life of Walter Mitty
- Gladiator
- Back to the Future
- Saw (just the first one - not all the ridiculous sequels!)
- 28 Days Later
- The Bourne series
- Monty Python's Holy Grail and Life of Brian
- As good as it gets
- Chocolat
- Inception
- The Green Mile
- Strictly Ballroom
- Elf
- Anchorman
- The Truman Show
- Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
I could go on and on and on and on...

Music:
- The Verve

- Muse
- Oasis
- Kings of Leon
- Turin Brakes

But broadly speaking I like lots of things - from Abba to Zero 7

I love to read and supernatural-type books are my guilty-pleasure. Some of my favourites are:
- Stieg Larsson's Millennium trilogy
- Harry Potter
- The Sookie Stackhouse novels
- Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy
- Kelley Armstrong's Women of the Otherworld series
- Cassandra Clare's The Mortal Instruments series
- Louis Sachar's Holes
- 1984
- Jurassic Park
- Jaws
- Dracula
- Suzanne Collins' Hunger Games trilogy

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've done and seen too many amazing things on my travels to put just one here!

To date, I have...
- Camped in the Amazon
- Road tripped across the States (including Route 66)!
- Climbed an active Volcano (and slid back down it on my bum!) in Chile
- Paddled a kayak around the amazing limestone formations in Ha Long Bay
- Attended the strangest funeral ceremony ever in Tana Toraja
- Raised a kangaroo in the Australian outback
- Gambled in Vegas
- Walked on a huge Glacier in Argentina
- Watched orangutans in the rain forests of Borneo
- Snorkelled the great barrier reef
- Swam in a jungle lagoon in Colombia
- Ran through the streets of Barcelona to catch a train while carrying a cup of the best, thickest hot chocolate ever (which made me late because it took forever to find the shop that sold it!)
- Trekked the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu
- Swam away from menacing dark shadows (that were suspiciously shark-shaped) at a Red Sea resort in Egypt, only to be confronted by a massive Napoleon fish that was blocking my way out of the water!

And that's not even the half of it!

Teach, Learn, Share

I wouldn't call myself a teacher, but I'm happy to give a general overview of how I did my job in PR and Marketing. I love talking about all the places I've visted and like to dish out advice to help you on your next adventure. More randomly, I can also spin poi and have taught several of my friends and family the basics!
When I get back to the UK, I'm looking forward to being able to play host and show people the best way to experience my country - travel has made me quite proud of the beautiful little island I call home.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a friendly and courteous person who can give you a wealth of information about how you too can have the same adventures I've had on my travels so far. I can also tell you anything you need to know about any up-coming trips to the UK and am happy to help you with your English if needed.
When I get back to the UK after my travels, I will also be happy to return the favour and become a host myself.
