About Me

CURRENT MISSION
I haven't traveled much in the last couple of years and during those last trips, I plum forgot about this marvelous wondrous world of couchsurfing until an epic traveller of a great creative troubadour kind mentioned it to me the other day. So, I'm reintroduce myself, queridos amigos...

ABOUT ME

where to begin . . .
borne of sicilian immigrants to the u.s.a, i grew up in rural pennsylvania with a tremendous exposure to genuine food.
i love food, not just eating, as much as i revel in simple unpretension quality, whether it be homemade butter, jam, and bread, or a multi-course caravan of culinary creations, food is the prism through which i most often seek understanding. the kitchens of the world, whether fireside on a beach, forest, or a desert, in a state of the art facility or an old humble stone or two, the expressions of humanity through its relationship with the food that makes it, sustains it, most interests me. i love learning and i believe in laughing and loving, and struggling to preserve unique responses to that great question; what does it mean to be human? for me, i focus on food. but, then again, there's music, too.

PHILOSOPHY

create more than you consume. Take care, revel, and share!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
As mentioned above, I haven't used couchsurfing much and when I did, well, it was years ago and it was amazing! I'm on the road at the moment. However, I look forward to hosting so very much.
i'm still rather new to this world of cs. however, through my many years of wandering and working, i feel as though i have already been living a philosophy of share and grow like that which the cs project seems to reflect. i believe we can positively impact this beautiful and wounded world to which we belong - it doesn't belong to us, we belong to it - through sharing. i look forward to better understanding the whole project. i did have a few specific cs experiences years ago and am looking to do some more couchsurfing.
Great journeys to you and yours!

Music, Movies, and Books

poetry like dunn, thomas, neruda, whitman, merini, di franco, kesey, frante, steinbeck, and music like bregovic, belloni, bresson, brel, guccini, marini, modena city ramblers, andrew bird, devotchka, beirut, dilego, midnight, baustelle, and so many more. books? well, i need to read more stories, but i really enjoy derick jensen, and i recently reread don quixote. fantastic, fun, and alive.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

i really enjoy the underground food scene in the states and the phenomenon of unconventional restaurants in homes and public spaces. i have organized and helped in a variety of meals, most of which were not-for-profit, and which drew from the land immediately surrounding the place where the meal was shared. no marketing and no reason other than community and celebrating it. i have help to host some epic meals in glorious places. so many instances stick out in my mind. perhaps we'll conspire to create some. who knows?...

Teach, Learn, Share

i have much to share and much more to learn. maybe i can teach you how to make homemade pastas or breads, or take a walk through the park and identify some plants and mushrooms and turn them into a meal. once again, i have done a variety of things in my life and i have much to share and much more to learn.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook, garden, massage, and tell stories, as well as listen
