ABOUT ME

I am a fun, enthusiastic person who enjoys a wide range of activities including travel, comedy, musical theatre, art and football. I enjoy making the most of every experience/opportunity. Some friends might say "Kit can be loud, excitable and prone to singing on the odd occasion" but don't let that put you off, I am a person who enjoys discussion, meeting new people and learning something new everyday.

I so far have participated by surfing in Europe and hosting several people in New Zealand.

Interests

MUSICAL THEATRE

I love Musical Theatre and have been performing in musicals in Auckland for the last few years. I have been in several musicals including Miss Saigon, Footloose, Songs for a New World, Chess and Slice of Saturday Night. I also enjoy directing and producing. I recently started my own theatre company.

ART

I have a love for Art and Art History. I completed my degree in Law/Art History last year. I have worked at two galleries in Auckland. I was also founder and President of the Art History Society, a club at university that had over 120 members.

JOURNALISM

I spent my final year at university as Editor of the student magazine Craccum. This involved producing a 48 page magazine on a weekly basis.

OTHER INTERESTS

I enjoy watching television and films (see list below).
I take an interest in politics and was involved in the Auckland University Students Association for two years.
I play guitar and enjoy watching football. I am a fan of Newcastle United.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies : As it is in Heaven, Mary Poppins, V for Vendetta, Fight Cub, Memento, Lock Stock, Inception, Green Street Hooligans. Love 80s romance films (High Fidelity, Say Anything, Dirty Dancing. Also enjoy old black & white films.

Television: Dr Who, Black Books, Mighty Boosh, Gavin & Stacey, New Girl, Game of Thrones, White Collar, Suits, Mindy Project, Gotham, Arrested Development. Too many to count.

Music : Guillemots, Sufjan Stevens, Ryan Adams, Angus and Julia Stone, Fyfe Dangerfield. Musical soundtracks like Newsies, If/Then, Kinky Boots etc. Also happy to listen to Pop music. Pretty eclectic.

Books : Mr Pip, The Book Thief, The Harry Potter series, C.S Lewis, Tolkien.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbing to the top of Mountains in Nepal at dawn and seeing the Sunrise

Walked 100kms around Lake Taupo (New Zealand) in under 30 hours.

Climbing to the top of the Duomo in Florence.

Seeing Matilda the Musical on the West End

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you a bit of New Zealand history and New Zealand Art. I can cook for you (although NZ's only real signature dish is a pavlova, which I will fail at). I am a fan of good wine and good discussion.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share about New Zealand culture and identity and teach you about the bi-culturalism and the relationship between Maori and Pakeha. I may even sing for you.
