About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Exploring the world and meeting new people!

ABOUT ME

I'm a bit of an idealistic, wanna-be-artist type. I'm a nature enthusiast, very skeptical about modernity, and probably a bit of an anarchist at heart (though too cowardly to practice it in the general day-to-day). But mostly I would think of myself as an easy-going person looking to enjoy life.

PHILOSOPHY

We have so little time... I've got that one figured out. How we're meant to use that time... I'm still working on it.
Generally I want to believe in connections- to other humans, to the earth and the universe.... etc. I think experiencing those connections make time very worthwhile.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

When I first joined couchsurfers it was because I was studying abroad and it sounded like, by far, the best way to travel. And it was. The experiences and relationships were intoxicating, and now I would very much like to give back by inviting others to stay with me. Not that many people tend to travel to Indiana, but... you never know.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had nothing but super-positive, exceeding-my-expectation experiences!

Interests

I love the... outdoors- exploring countrysides and spelunking and hiking mountains and whatever. Animals are dear to me- growing up I enslaved myself in many a labor job to be around horses.
Music is also a huge passion of mine- I love writing it, listening to it, going to shows... the whole deal. I'm in a rock band currently, feel free to check out at chiasmatheband.bandcamp.com!
I also like writing... and reading... a lot. Someday I really hope to write something great. I think I'm capable of it, but maybe too young and a bit over-zealous to make anything cohesive yet.
Also things I like in no particular order:
dancing (like an idiot because i can't dance)
pizza
cheese
video games (all different kinds)
laughing at cats (nothing cruel- I do love them. They're just self-proclaimed snobs.)
motorcycles (i don't know how to drive them- yet. It is my life goal to buy a speed bike)
my boyfriend! i hadn't meant to leave him till the bottom... he's lovely.

Music, Movies, and Books

This is tricky. I love a huge variety of music, most notably... modern classical stuff like Phillip Glass and Yann Tiersen, metal like Opeth and Devin Townsend, female fronted symphonic bands like Nightwish and Epica... prog like Ayreon...Power stuff like Blind Guardian or Luca Turilli...acoustic stuff like Coldplay... electronica like Splashdown and synthpop like... Depeche Mode... classic rock, too... I like it all. Probably rock a little more than the soft stuff, though.
For books... there's too many to list. But generally I love fantasy and sci fi, with an occasional appreciation of the classics.
For movies... Just... good, tasteful things. Of course that's subjective. Probably my favorites would be like... Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, any Miyazaki films, Mirror Mask, old Disney movies, Star Wars and Lord of the Rings, and... etc etc. Lately Hollywood has been a major let down.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Amazing things... Hmm. Sometimes they can be so gradual, like watching a dear friend overcome something horrible or a family member accomplishing something you thought was impossible... I could go that sentimental route. Generally speaking, I mean... Norway's pretty freaking amazing. So was the Netherlands (for a number of reasons ;) )... Mammoth Cave is incredible (and only four hours from my house!!)... Seeing Opeth play live was amazing. Etc etc.

Countries I’ve Visited

Netherlands, Sweden

Countries I’ve Lived In
