About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to keep it simple and enjoy every day

ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Gabrielle. I'm a teacher some times and a learner at all times. I spend most of my money on things I keep nowhere else than in my head, and traveling would be the first. I'm new to CS but I find it an absolute genius idea, crossing my fingers for it to be as an enriching experience for me as some of the peeps here describe it has been for them! I have a tickle in my brain and this is me trying to tame it :) I don't smoke, and since I'm trying to cut down on the meat-eating for a handful of reasons, I'll always be delighted to share a vegetarian meal with some kindred soul(s).

PHILOSOPHY

Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere - Martin Luther King

The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page - St Augustine

There are shortcuts to happiness, and dancing is one of them - Vicki Baum

There are very few monsters who warrant the fear we have of them - André Gide

I believe in being kind, curious, and living high.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I live in a small place in Paris so for now, I cannot offer my couch yet unfortunately, but I hope I can in the near future. I'm always up for grabbing a cuppa hot drink though, so please feel free to contact me!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None yet, but I'm sure hoping to do it soon.

Interests

Discovering, experimenting, looking beyond things. Traveling, traveling, traveling, reading, walking, watching a good movie, hanging out with lovely people, dancing, dancing, dancing, rollerblading, swimming, eating, eating, eating, taking pictures of places and beings, loving the right persons around me, feeling the time flowing and realize I'm happy about it.

Music, Movies, and Books

Ah there are so many! I owe a lot to music. It has saved my soul many times, thanks to some artists who are pure magic like John Butler Trio, Django Reinhardt, Adele, Queen, Joe Hisaishi, Bjork, Yodelice, etc. I have unlimited access to the movies here through membership and so I go as often as possible. My top 5 fave movies would be : Blade Runner, The Shining, Hotaru no Haka, Nobody Knows and The Fisher King. Some books/comics that I've really particularly loved are Sophie's World, Animal Farm, A Season in Hell, Candide: or, Optimism, The Elegance of the Hedgehog, Calvin & Hobbes, Maus, V for Vendetta etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I swam with sharks and dolphins in the Red Sea, and experimented the floating feeling in the Assal Lake in Djibouti. I hiked to the top of Mount Fuji in Japan to embrace a brand new day with a flamboyant sunrise, and walked above the clouds feeling like flying. I climbed 1000+ uneven stairs up a cliff in Thailand, alone with pitch dark night around, but followed by a guardian angel dog whom I had never met before, to admire a grand golden buddha on top and reflect about all kinds of lives on Earth. And I have met so many amazing generous people all around the world, this is something I have to be forever thankful for.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you a bit of Japanese language if you like. :) I can show you the basics of salsa and bachata too, as I LOVE dancing, currently completely hooked on kizomba. I can share about all my travels, and just about anything that feels of interest at any time with anyone. I want to learn about cultures, history, and so many other things, anything that you are passionate about. I want to witness again and again how beautiful it is to be different.
