About Me

Hi there,
I've been living in Mexico since 2020 with residency and enjoying this pace of life and the kind people I have met here. My choice to leave Canada was simple; if I was to be isolated, I may as well be somewhere warm.

Travel over the years has brought me to Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Dominican Rep., Cuba, Jamaica, UK, BC, NB, NS, QC, FLA, MI, KS, NYC.

My life is pretty simple. I have luggage but no baggage. An average week has been a standard 9-5. I like to cook my own meals (been living alone 10yrs) and enjoy going out to a quality restaurant on the weekend. During the week I keep to a standard schedule and get to sleep by about 10/10:30 pm, so I like a quiet place.

In Mexico, I arrange dinner parties so more people can connect and become friends. It's a joy of mine to bring people together. I don't drink, smoke or use drugs stronger than aspirin and am not interested in sharing space with anyone who does those things. I'm ok with light/occasional drinkers, just not the crowd that can't wait for 5:00 to hit so they can drink the day away. No, thank you.

When I get back I will be working a lot and could use a hand finding a place to call home. This leads us to the next section.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am returning to Mississauga, Canada to work full-time for Liuna 183 Construction Union in May of 2023. Since 2020, I have been living in Mexico and become a resident here.

My full-time position begins May 22, 2023 and I am looking for room rentals or shared accommodations but have not yet secured anything. I would like to arrive in Mississauga between May 10-18th to give me time to get set up and sorted out.

I will be working on the Hurontario Light Rail Transit project and need to have close access to catch the Hurontario bus.

A friend reminded me of this platform that I have used in the past so I'm here and hopeful.

Interests

I was an avid camper, and outdoorsman (woman/whatever). Eating out is a pleasure and I enjoy movies and theater arts. I like to play in the ocean, swim in black lakes (Muskoka) and play with animals. Intelligent, interesting conversation is a pleasure, whereas I avoid the general news and raging politics. Life should be for living and being, not complaining and talking about things beyond our control. I value peace and silence including meditation and have spent the bulk of the last decade alone though I enjoy good company and kind people.

Music, Movies, and Books

For music, I like rock, alternative, blues, some jazz, and classical piano/strings. I'm not interested in punk or that extreme heavy metal.

Also I love movies. I'm not a fan of TV and haven't owned one for years but when I discovered Netflix, oh boy!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was awarded the contract to renovate and maintain the rental homes of all 4 members of the Rolling Stones when they were in Toronto rehearsing for A Bigger Bang tour. During that summer, I had the chance to talk with all of them, Keith mostly. Afterward, I was brought on as the site supervisor in Moncton New Brunswick at the beginning of the tour. All of this came to be because of the project I ran at SARS-Fest (Molson Canada Rocks Toronto 2003) when I was in charge of converting an airplane hanger into an artist compound complete with snooker lounge, night club, catering, dressing rooms... Angus Young needs oxygen before he goes on stage and Justin Timberlake ordered a giant BBQ so his crew could grill up their own food and stay outside.

I've also swam with sea turtles, lived on the side of a live volcano, experienced a 7.6 earthquake, sat with people I love while they crossed over/died, and find gratitude for each day.
