We are a creative family of 5 who live on a bee-farm (apiary) half an hour away from the nearest town Hastings (there are no shops here!). It's pretty peaceful here and we have really nice views.

Daniel works as a bee-keeper producing queen bees, and also sometimes drives the local school bus. I have a big vege garden. We have 3 children, Ralph (11) and Thea (8) and George (5).

It is easier for us if you have your own car and we prefer stays of 2-3 nights max. We are vegetarian but do eat some fish. We are probably slightly on the introverted side and while we love talking and spending time together we also like it when visitors are quite self-sufficient and don't expect to be entertained every day! It is busy and tiring with 3 kids!

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

We love to help travellers - a bed, shower, food... Maybe try to do something outside the usual framework of money...! We enjoy meeting interesting people through couchsurfing! It's really nice for the kids meeting people from around the world too :)

Intereses

I have a large very organic vege garden and also love to cook. I also make sourdough bread twice a week. Daniel is our fermentation king however making our saurkraut, kim chi and kombucha! We love making things from scratch. Daniel likes chainsawing and has done some cool chainsaw sculptures. He also likes rubiks cubes. We both like reading and movies. I have published 2 books of poetry.

Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones

If Daniel is not too busy we would love to show you the bees. I love to make delicious vegetarian food to share and have a large very organic (lots of weeds!) vege garden. There are nice places to walk around, most places to visit in Hawkes Bay are not too far for a day trip. You are always welcome to entertain our delightful children...! :)
