About Me

Coming on here is a bit of a time capsule! My profile was written in 2005-2007 when I was in my early 20s, just a kid! Now I'm 34 with kids of my own, enjoying a different kind of adventure.

But I'm still a world-explorer and question-asker.

Current Mission:

Bringing up my two little girls with my partner in the small surf town of Raglan, New Zealand, growing a garden, singing and dancing, being a science journalist writing for magazines, and writing my first book.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been on here for more than a decade now, had a break for a long while, and now thinking about getting involved again...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Have hosted a handful of lovely people.. and surfed my way around europe and south america. I have had nothing but amazing and mind expanding experiences on Couchsurfing, and have met SO MANY amazing friends through this website, it continues to astound me and make me grateful for all the wonderful people in the world...

Interests

dancing and singing and travelling and talking and jumping off rocks into the water and climbing trees and cooking and listening to reggae and lots of other music and eating icecreams and the beach and the bush and taking photgraphs and writing and meeting people from other places and people who are environmentally concious and help me to be...and sunshine and stars and thunderstorms.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

this is hard! so many things are amazing! umm...swam with dolphins in the harbour below my house; clambering over the ruins of greek temples in Sicily with my Dad; climbed the pyramids of Tikal in the Guatemalan jungle with my sister Monica; had beers with Strokes and Oasis in a Sydney hotel; played soccer with landmine victims in Cambodia (they kicked my arse); climbed Mt Ngaruahoe (an active volcano in NZ); become part of an amazing italian family - harvesting olives and making olive oil with my adopted 'nonno'.. to be continued... (hmmm climbing really seems to be a theme here!), fell in love, lay on a rock 300 metres above a river valley in Brazil, climbed Pedro da Gavea above Rio de Janiero, partied at carnaval there, ran nude on the Salar of uyuni in bolivia, spent Christmas in the Argentine wild west at Antofogasta de la Sierra, swam with pink dolphins in the bolivian amazon... (and.. update 10 years later... gave birth to two wonderful girls.)
