About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I'm living my dream and making it happen. On a journey that will take me and my faithful bicycle 'Tankini' from London in the UK to Christchurch in New Zealand via 22 countries and a few oceans!
ABOUT ME
Kia Ora! (that's New Zealand speak for 'Hi there'!)
I'm another crazy kiwi....there are a few of us about. I've been living in the UK for 7 years and have decided enough is enough. I miss seeing the sun! Time to find that yellow ball in the sky again.
I've caught the travel bug over these last few years. I just love who I come to meet along the way and experiencing all sorts of walks of life. I particularly enjoy getting OFF the tourist trail.
I decided to head home.....by bike. Bicycle that is! NOT a motorbike. By being on a bike I can go around our beautiful planet as slowly as a bicycle does. It let's me discover the people, and embrace their culture.
It will take me 14 months and my project has been 2 years in the planning but 22 countries and a few oceans later my mission should be accomplished.
London, UK to Christchurch in New Zealand...one very long cycle journey (with the odd bus, train or boat thrown in)....HOME.
Please help me out along the way if you can!
PHILOSOPHY
It's not the destination....it's the journey
I love meeting positive people. And every opportunity to learn from others is a gem.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Couch Surfing is the best thing for travelling since sliced bread!
I don't EXPECT you to feed me, but am grateful for the odd meal that comes me way. I try and keep my belongings tidy and not spread out all over my hosts house!
I don't expect to be babysat but am grateful for the company.
I like to chat about my journey but am pretty humble and don't feel I am anything special. I'm just a girl on a bike going home!
I'm on a very woeful budget (ie 10 USD per day) so expensive hotels and restaurants are just not me. I feel uncomfortable in luxury. I would much rather do as the locals do...'eat the country, drink the country'.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have had too many awesome couchsurfing experiences and just met some totally amazing people! For me on my journey home it has ben ideal. Thank you to my couch surfing hosts who have shared in my journey and helped me out along the way....I'm very grateful!
Interests
Travel has taken over my life! So I've teamed it up with other interests I am passionate about, cycling, camping, photography, writing and meeting all sorts of absolutely AMAZING people from all walks of life.
I love my music too. I am a huge Rugby fan (the All Blacks most devoted fan), love all types of water sports. I recently discovered Ultimate Frisbee. But LEARNING and adventure ...that's me in a nutshell. This list could go on forever...

Music....well. Where do I start?! Having managed Apple iTunes UK print requirements these last few years my iPod is full to bursting. My music taste could be described as schizophrenic perhaps?!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Being 1 of 3 tourists in Afghanistan (with a population of 33 million!)...one of the most dangerous countries in the world. I had such a unique experience there...it's one country I would dearly love to go back too.
