About Me

CURRENT MISSION

discover the South Island + have a great time in New Zealand :)

ABOUT ME

I am a backpacker staying in NZ for 7 months. I love discovering new countries and cities, making music (drums), taking photographs with my reflex camera, go trekking and fishing, talking about politics :)

Interests

Music is my biggest passion. I’ve started to play the drums a few years ago und founded my first band in the age of sixteen. After two more years of collecting experiences on the stage and in the studio I decided to found a second music project. Unfortunately I had to give it up for my journey to NZ (but I will continue after my return). I always have an open mind about improvisations with new people even if I don’t really know them. I’ve often made the experience that playing music is a good way to get in touch with new people. My favourite music is heavy metal but no worries! I am also interested in playing other stuff like rock, alternative, funk….

I am also a fan of photography. This passion awakened two years ago. My first reflex camera I can call my own is a Canon 450D and I use this camera till this day. My favourite photo subjects are great landscapes, plants and flowers. So I am always looking for the next botanic garden in the city. Loving the detail I take a lot of close-ups try to make small things to something special. So photography is one of the main reasons for my stay in New Zealand.

I really like to talk and discuss about politics. My studies of political sciences will begin next year in Germany. I am interested in philosophers like Thomas Hobbes or Jean-Jacques Rousseau who influenced our society and politics to the present day. The political happenings in Germany are important for me as well and I would really like to learn something more about the political parties in New Zealand :)

As long as my pocket money as a student permits I try to spend some time in other European countries to get in touch with new people and different cultures. Some of my most impressive visits were in Scotland and Norway. I really would like to travel to some Asian countries in the future to see something more out of European. But first of all I will discover New Zealand :)

I met some guys who recommended me to have the couchsurfing experience. They say it’s a very good possibility to get in touch with a lot of open-minded and interesting people who can help to orientate in a new city. And yes! they’re right. I haven’t made a lot experiences by now but I really would like to make some more of them in the future :)

Cheers!
