About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Explore the worlds national parks!

ABOUT ME

I am a 26 year old physiotherapist from Auckland NZ.

I left NZ Dec 2011 and backpacked all over Europe for 10months (including lots of awesome CS experiences). I have since been working and travelling on and off soon to be setting off on my next big trip come June, first Norway then AFRICA!!

I would describe myself as a typical Kiwi; friendly, open, laid back and love a good beer or 12. I would also definitely consider myself more of a get stuck in/hands on/activity based traveler rather than someone who goes places simple to look and admire..I prefer getting fully immersed in wherever I am- something couch-surfing truly provides the opportunity to do!

You wont find me in nice hotels or fancy restaurants when I travel, even if I had no $$ constraints Id still prefer to be in my little tent with my gas cooker in the middle of nowhere, or of course experiencing a place with a local host!

PHILOSOPHY

So a little know fact, Nike stole their slogan of me haha. But in all seriousness "just do it" is how I live my life, why pass up things to regret later, if an opportunity to experience something new presents itself I will take it!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Started hosting in NZ first in my family home (which my parents loved) and then in a flat with friends, always good times. Now have had the absolute pleasure of having many amazing hosts on my travels through Europe and looking forward to many more.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Wow...just wow. I honestly couldn't imagine what my time in Europe would have been like without CS now! Have met the most amazing people and through them have done so many things I would never have had the opportunity before. My experiences have been enhanced and enriched as a result. Now, to be honest, the thing I look forward to the most going to a new place is not the "must see sights" but rather the time I will have with my CS (if I have been lucky enough to find one).

CS is also how i came to meet my girlfriend of now nearly 4 years after I hosted her in NZ! I know CS is not a dating site but hey...when you click you click :)

Interests

Basically I just love anything and everything that keeps me outside; Hiking, cycling, swimming, snowboarding, climbing, exploring etc etc. Can't stand sitting in front of computers (the only bad thing i assocuate with couchsurfing).

I also really love music festivals/live concerts, well music in general really (wish I had learnt to play something!!)

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Here in NZ i believe we produce someone of the best and most underrated music on the planet, I am so proud that bands such as shapeshifter (a favourite!!!) are finally making it big overseas. Although I enjoy pretty much all types favourites would be anything of the liquid dnb and dub/reggae varieties (very contrasting I know)

Books: Something i really want to get back into to! Unfortunately I havent had the luxury of reading books the last couple of years but instead journal articles and research papers- not so exciting!

Movies: I'm terrible at remember names etc, don't watch too many to be honest

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Camping on a beautiful beach in Albania, Sleeping at the top of the black mountain Montenegro, Naked bungy jump in New Zealand, surviving being mugged in Spain (haha), Hogmany new year in Edinburugh...plus far too many more to list

Teach, Learn, Share

As touched on above im pretty passionate about NZ music (NZ in general really, small country syndrome I guess) and would love to share my knowledge of it with anyone who wants to listen!

Also have alot of knowledge on fitness/injury type things; yoga/pilates/stretching/nutrition/gym programmes/injury treatment etc from the work I do which I am more than happy to talk about
