About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live in a warm world.

ABOUT ME

I love people - to meet them, to know them, to care for them, to share experiences with them, to feel a warm connection to them when they move on or return home. This is why I host.

I used to be very active but I've slowed down lately, because I'm more selective... I like to spend time with people I resonate with - who inspire me or I can encourage on a meaningful journey. So if we have a genuine point of connection, please message me, even if my couch is turned off - I'd love to have you stay.

What makes it all worthwhile for me? Inspiring conversations, challenges to the way I think and feel, to see and be seen. I love to feel openhearted and generous, and I need your help to sustain that attitude. I don't have much income at the moment, so please be aware when I am spending money and make a contribution. And I struggle with the mundane tasks of life... keeping the kitchen and bathroom tidy will make a world of difference for me.

With travel, as with art or music, it's important for me to to experience it on emotional level. Culture, language, and customs are full of emotion - but you can't experience it without connecting with the people.

PHILOSOPHY

Take every opportunity to trust and be trusted.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Mainly, I host. I like to create a positive experience of couchsurfing and of New Zealand. I'm an open book - you may not be meeting a "typical" kiwi but there is every opportunity for a genuine cultural exchange. Good, friends for a short time at least.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I live alone with two cats - but not very often as I have a lot of visitors. It's been awesome to have so many cool people to stay - I think couch-surfers are a special breed! I like that people come and go, but sometimes there is a deeper connection - we hang a bit longer, keep in touch, or just carry a fond memory forward.

Hosting is my vicarious travel - I've had cultural experiences in my living room that rival those in exotic countries!

Interests

Trying to make sense of the world, of people and what brings them together, of culture and how it can better serve us all.
