Overview
About Me
Hi! My name is Kristen Webster, but usually my friends call me KJ. I'm going into my final year of university this September, so before I enter the 'post-grad-abyss' I am looking forward to spending some time overseas in Europe. I love to explore urban towns, both for their history and architecture, but also enjoy spending time in smaller rural towns. In my free time I like to go to the bar with my friends, hike, read and write, and cook. When I don't have free time, which I usually don't, you can find me working with kids at camp or studying in the library.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
One of my friends who is on exchange told me about Couchsurfing, and it felt like a sign! Travelling can be an isolating experience, and staying in hostels you meet mostly fellow travellers who know only a little about the country you are visiting. But I love to learn about the place I'm staying! After a bit of research, CS it seemed like the best of both words! Couchsurfing will allow me to meet interesting hosts from around the world and integrate more holistically into the communities where I'm staying.
Interests
I love to write! When I'm not writing for school, I like to journal and write plays. Like anyone, I enjoy a good book. Lately I have picked up an interest in cooking, and am trying to figure out how to make a perfect curry. Throughout my life I have done improv comedy, which is acting without a script; I love it, and hopefully when we meet I can make you laugh! I also love to volunteer, and am on an executive team at my university which advocates for other groups and volunteers at events weekly.

Music, Movies, and Books
Too much to list! For music, I love R&B, rap, Americana/folk, and musicals. Movies, I really like Wes Anderson and the Coen Brothers; but I'll usually watch anything if it has good reviews! Books, too many to list, but I am reading "The Interestings" right now, which I would recommend. Generally speaking, I love books which centre around historical moments and have comical tones.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I climbed Eldfell, a volcanic mountain on the "Westman Islands" (Vestmannaeyjar) in Iceland. It was pretty inspiring.
Teach, Learn, Share
My life rotates around learning, and hopefully I can share some information I've accumulated with my hosts, and learn just as much (or more) from them.
What I Can Share with Hosts
With my hosts I can share some laughter, conversation, and definitely a few drinks!
Countries I’ve Visited
Belize, Canada, Dominican Republic, Iceland, United States
