About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Meet lots of interesting people. Share great food and stories.
ABOUT ME
My average day has me hanging out with my dogs, poking around the garden or the workshop, and getting a fair amount of reading done, and some yoga time here and there so I can feel good about going out for the night and hanging with many great compadres.
PHILOSOPHY
"I do not suppose I shall be remembered for anything. But I don't think about my work in those terms. It is just as vulgar to work for the sake of posterity as to work for the sake of money." - Orson Welles
"People usually consider walking on water or in thin air a miracle. But I think the real miracle is not to walk either on water or in thin air, but to walk on earth." - Thich Nhat Hanh
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've only recently started using Couch Surfing officially - grad student life has me traveling to a lot of cool places these days! But have stayed on plenty of couches around the Northeast and elsewhere and attended CS events. As for offering space, I've helped run DIY music venues for a number of years and always happy to help a traveling band find a place for a night. Also lived in a collective until moving to NY and exchanged many couch experiences therein.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
While a couch is definitely my preference, I'm game for any friendly arrangement - couch, comfy floor, etc. I've cozied up in my sleeping bag under a dining room table before and slept quite fine. Also once with my head in a kitchen and my feet in the pantry.
Interests
Life interests: gardening, hanging with the dogs, live music, yoga, meditating, making beer, making wine, reading, playing some albums, hiking, biking, hosting potluck dinners, volunteering in the community.
School interests: My research deals with how communities engage with and practice science to participate in environmental science debates. Currently this is by studying volunteer water quality monitoring groups in NY and PA.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I spent a stretch of last summer on the Navajo Reservation in NM/AZ working with school kids on environmental monitoring projects! Been all around Europe, brief stint in Russia, all four corners of the U.S.
