About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To love and be call myself beloved on the earth

ABOUT ME

Looking for good conversations, good friends, and great vegetables. My favorite times with people include, but are not limited to: Creating unique food and drink combinations, long bike rides, lying on the beach, reading aloud, (literally) breathtaking hikes, midwest road trips, respectfully disagreeing, and exchanging stories of love, losing and finding faith, family, and hopes.

PHILOSOPHY

I studied social work out of a fascination with human behavior, relationships, and ways of helping one another. I am continually amazed by the power of personal stories, and want to exchange as many as possible during my time on earth.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am fortunate to have met several couchsurfers through both hosting and surfing. I'm definitely up for meeting more, I just moved into a house in Lancaster with two other women who are up for hosting, and I'm excited to see what else awaits in the surfing world.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've stayed with and hosted several CSers in the Midwest US (I lived in Kansas for the past three years, am currently in Delaware). Each experience has been surprising--how we have differences but can agree on so much more. I'm quickly becoming an unbeliever in this whole stranger danger nonsense...

Interests

In terms of traveling, I would love to explore as many National Parks as possible, hoping to hit the road on a quick bike tour of the east coast ASAP. I lived for a year in Belgrade, Serbia, and have been scheming a return to that region ever since.
More generally, I love to read (a guilty pleasure for me is a sappy memoir), cook(particularly vegetarian and ethnic dishes), and work (I find a lot of satisfaction in crossing tasks off a list. Sadly Puritan, I know).

Music, Movies, and Books

Traveling Mercies by Anne Lamott comes to mind. I love the gratitude, the questions, and the honesty that comes through her writing. I'm also reading a collection of short stories by Kurt Vonnegut--clever and entertaining.
Right now I'm listening to a mix of Iron and Wine, Bon Iver, and Fleet Foxes. I'm hooked on old episodes of Arrested Development and Friends (apparently I live with one foot in the past?)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was lucky to be present when my brother was born (a day that changed my life so much for the better).

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a keen interest in mental health (how we care for ourselves, how we perceive those with mental health challenges, and how healing happens). Not sure how to translate that into a practical skill, but I'm open to suggestions.
I'd love to learn more about...almost anything...but particularly, bicycle touring, art, politics, and spirituality.
