I grew up in a town called Oswiecim (the famous Auschwitz) and lived there until I turned 19. In 2007 I started studying at AGH (University of Science and Technology) and had been living in a dormitory for 4 years. It's the perfect place to live while you're studying, because it gives you all the flavours of student's life.

Then moved to London in 2011 and spent wonderful 3 years amongst people from around the world and made many good friends.

I'm keen on travelling to weird and interesting places doing stuff that would give my mum a heart attack.

I enjoy meeting new people and talking about certain or unimportant stuff, exchanging knowledge, having a healthy rivalry in sports - in general share life with others.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I still want to maintain connection with the rest of the world, although it's not that easy working nine to five and not living in world's most wicked place.

Interests

Sailing - Unfortunately, only on bigger lakes, but I have plans to sail the seas (one at least)

Motorcycles - Feels good once you're on the road again... better than drugs ;)

IT - Well, basically your job should be also one of your interests, if you don't want to waste your life

Volleyball - Oh yes! My favourite sport, I'm not league level yet, but soon, who knows

Piano, guitar, harmonica - Piano is my main instrument, right now I'm practising intensively, along with side instruments - guitar and harmonica.

Cooking - I used to cook a lot, now it's only on free evenings or when someone comes round. I can prepare some tasty polish dishes as well as quite universal recipies.

(Self arranged) trips - What's not to love? The best trip is 100% independent. The bestest ones are with tents and hitch-hiking.

Cliff Diving - omg. omg. omg. I went for the first time to the swimming pool in Putney in Feb 2013 and I'm a great fan of diving since then. Practising all those wicked tricks & flips. Now I try to aim higher and cliff dive

Hiking - mountains are my true love, if you come round to Krakow and have a spare day or two, I'll take you to many breathtaking places :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Not specified, appreciate a good movie

Music: The great three genres - classic, jazz(+blues), old rock. But also some metal, funk, ambitious electronic(just a bit, actually), most of rock derivatives, shanties, sung poetry, and whatever with flair

Books: Unfortunately not so many, but in early days I used to love (and still love) fantasy/sci-fi (Sapkowski, Bob Salvatore, Phillip K. Dick), Pratchett, Wolf and Philosopher

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Amazing as in 10/0, recommended, you should try it too? Hard to pick one, but a true marvel and beauty is hidden deep under water. Get some equipment, instructor/guide and you're in a different world.

Teach, Learn, Share

If you're considering hitch-hiking and have never done this before, here are some tips which will help you catch ride easier:

1. Reveal your face - no sunglasses, hats covering most of your face - people like to know you have nothing to hide

2. Smile - or at least don't frown or have stone face. It's all about being cheerful and polite, isn't it?

3. Inform about your next stop - get a big piece of cardboard or stiff paper and write clearly your destination or the next bigger city. It is more likely to get a ride when someone knows he/she is going the same way and you look more credible.

4. Take the benefits of gas stations - or parking lots on highways. Standing on the roadside right past parkings is safer (but not legal in some countries, so police may fine you). You can even ask truck drivers or people taking a break from long hours of driving if they are going the same direction (worked for me)

5. Stick to the busier roads - sometimes it's worth sacrificing couple of tens of kilometres to reach your destination quickly. Despite the route might be shorter, you may end up waiting for hours for a ride.

6. Don't be afraid to walk - hitching is not only being immobile. Go around the corner or look for another spot if nobody stopped for long time. Who knows, you might find better places!

7. Most important - if you hitch-hike yourself don't forget to take other hitch-hikers when you have some room in your car
