About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I love to meet lots of people who make me laugh and think, do not agree with me but make me discuss. I hope to never grow old and keep an open mind.

ABOUT ME

I'm a very positive woman who likes to laugh. Creative and active, open minded. I'm a people person.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

2 of my children had very positive experiences, that's why I started.
I had 7 Polish people staying here for a Taize celebration in Rotterdam, loved it.
One of my couchsurfers from South Korea fell in love with the country and returns almost every year to explore new things.
I love the unexpected, taking the waterbus the other direction because it came first and then ending up canoeing in the Biesbosch instead of going to Rotterdam.
Halfway on a bike ride with a vlogger from India finding out that there was a beer route (I love a good beer) and I can tell you that I was glad that other bikers helped me to find my way back home. 6 beers and 6 bites..., lots of fun but a little bit unsteady.
Sharing good food (couchsurfers sometimes bring their spices) ,good drinks, good coffee (speciality coffee in the house here from Manhattan Coffee Roasters, my daughter's business)
People can always crash here.

Interests

Art in very various forms. I love music from Classic to Metal-Rock. Love to dance and I am not ashamed to really move my body. I'm a nature person, being outside gives me energy. When you join me for a walk I tell you things about the plants you can eat. Walking (backpacking, did a lot of that in the Pyrenees) and Biking witch is a great thing to do around here. (I have two electric bikes, a normal one and a folding bike we can use) Here in "de Krimpenerwaard" (a polder)every winter I go "Wilgen knotten",that is typical dutch way to keep the trees (willows)short.
Wild plants , especially the ones you can eat (there are a lot you can eat)
Healing Touch is very important for me, I have a room to give treatments. (Because of my rebuilding, it's my bedroom for the moment)
I'm a food lover, and love spicy food. Love to go out and enjoy Rotterdam's restaurants, we got some real good vegan restaurants too. I know all the best coffee places, there are a lot who have my daughters coffee on the grinder now (Manhattan Coffee Roasters)
My very creative children and all the things they do make me very proud that I'm part of their lifes. My son in Rotterdam takes also couchsurfers.
I got a lovely boyfriend in the Hague (den Haag) who lives near the beach, so you can maybe stay there also. He is a taichi teacher.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Being in the Pyrenees, looking down from a mountain, seeing the clouds come and go,hearing the birds, the river, smelling the Thyme, you can feel how small you are in this big world.

The Sagrada Familia,I love Gaudi.

Being in Australia on my own and getting help when I lost my phone and was to tired after 48h travel with no sleep. The next day at the police station the girl next to me in line heard my statement and she saw my phone on Facebook, what a lucky girl I am.

In Australia hearing the strangest sound, recording it, sending it to my daughter who said:mum that's a Bird of Paradise. First saw the beautiful Male with long feathers, later the female. They both made the strangests sounds, mimicking even a chainsaw.

De Krimpenerwaard on an early morning with snow on the trees, mist hanging low around the trees and the sheep in the meadows. Makes me cry every time.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Austria, Belgium, Croatia, England, France, Germany, Iceland, Poland, Scotland, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United States
