Overview
About Me
I am a student at Fort Lewis College here in Durango, working on a degree in environmental and organismal biology. I grew up in Austin Texas but have lived all over the country. This summer I'm working at a corral guiding horseback rides, which I love! I also teach aerial silks twice a week and host open gyms. I like to ride horses, climb silks and rocks, do art, make smoothies, go hiking, play my ukulele, etc.
I'm not super into alcohol, since I basically have the pallet of a six year old, and even though I'm in Colorado, I don't smoke weed at all. I certainly don't care if you do any of those things, and I can even recommend good dispensaries! But my apartment has very strict rules about smoking.
WHAT'S MY NAME?!
My name is Bethany Reed. I inherited this account from my mother; Pat Reed. I guess I could have made another account, but this one already had several references on it and was verified. If you have any questions/concerns, please ask.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have used couch surfing so much in my travels around the country and am finally settled down long enough to pay forward all the generosity I have received from my numerous hosts. Unfortunately I have had two slightly sketchy situations, so I am extra cautious about who I let stay with me. But for the most part, my experiences have been fantastic. I've met homesteaders, aspiring film-makers, biochemists, and editors and have been able to explore the states in ways I never could have done on my own.
Also, I am NOT INTERESTED IN DEVELOPING ANY SORT OF RELATIONSHIP OTHER THAN FRIENDSHIP THROUGH COUCHSURFING. So, you know, be aware of that : )

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once jumped into the middle of a shark feeding frenzy. That was pretty amazing.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love teaching people about earthships, and I know a lot about them since I grew up in one that my dad built. I'm pretty knowledgeable about lions, and I speak some German!
If you can teach me how to play guitar, I will love you forever. Also, if you like singing and are good at harmonizing, you should definitely jam out with my roommate and I!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Depending if my roommate is here or in Transylvania, you can either have your own room with a memory foam mat thing on the floor, or you can sleep on the couch in the living room.
We live in an apartment about a mile west of downtown Durango, so you can walk, or maybe borrow my bike if you want.
I'm super busy, but am definitely down to hang out with you if I have time. I love Durango and have plenty of recommendations on how to spend your time here!
My apartment has some pretty strict rules:
No pets
No smoking of any kind (not even outside)
