Über mich
CURRENT MISSION
Find myself again after 6 years away from Europe and a few horrible job experiences.
ABOUT ME
I work in tech as a Product Manager, although I'm in between roles right now so I can take a trip abroad. Since I'm on Couchsurfing it likely goes without saying that I love travel and have gone on 5-6 trips per year around North America over the last 5 years. I love fitness (boxing, yoga, hiking, running - you name it), which really stems from my love of eating. My preferred travel method is experiencing new cultures via my stomach, which happens to have a direct line to my heart.
Recently leaving a job that sucked the soul out of me got me thinking a lot about what it means to be human and live a non-linear life. Ever since graduating college 5 years ago I have been on this hyper linear path in tech doing exactly what was expected of me in terms of building a career, but my most recent experience snapped me out of my trancelike gaze forward toward a 'responsible future' and made me realize I want to live the life I want to lead, not the life I'm supposed to lead. It sounds so obvious writing it out now I'm almost embarrassed.
I am constantly trying to get new perspectives on life through books, movies, and podcasts, but would really love to gain some fresh insights from new friends on my travels.
Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I first used the couchsurfing network in my time studying abroad in Spain and met a few fantastic people through it. I would love to take advantage of it again for my epic return back to Europe. While I will not have the space in my apartment to host (thank you Boston rent), I will happily meet new people for coffee & hopefully get to know the city better through them.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
So far I have only had one couchsurfing experience where 3 friends & I squished onto a couch because our host was generous enough to accept 2 extra people last minute. It inspired me to know that a network of people exist who truly want to help each other & trust the couchsurfing network (& human goodness) enough to accept others into your home with open arms. I absolutely love everything about it!
Interessen
- I have been doing yoga on & off for around 8 years. It started out as a way for me to maintain flexibility but in the last year or so I've been really pushing myself to have a more spiritual and meditative experience every time I get on my mat.
- I like exploring new cities on foot, whether running or walking through them. I try to avoid public transit unless necessary because I always feel like I'm missing out on taking in some part of a new place.
- I definitely eat my way through cities. I have no dietary restrictions or preferences, just a big appetite
- I love music (particularly alternative rock but have been known to dabble in just about anything) and enjoy live performances
- I've spent over a decade of my life dancing, formerly competitively but now just for fun. I have always loved salsa and bachata and it's always fun to check out the salsa scene when I'm on the road.
