Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

ı have some experıences now, in hostıng and surfıng. Besides, ı hosted far more people than ıt ıs wrıtten, but ıt was "unoffıcıal" ;) or they dıdn't wrıte references.
before beıng regıstered on CS, I did sleep while traveling in some people's place without knowing them. In Thailand, I slept a few days by a chinese couple, they were collecting tea pots, and I had my first "Tea Ceremony" at breakfast. In Romania, I stayed one night in a old woman flat, she cooked the best traditional meal for me, and put a paper with a prayer for my safety in one of my book, that I found a few days later.

Interests

I am a cinema lover, from all countries and I'm fond of music, every kind. And I like these 2 when it's experimental, when you cannot say right now if you like it or not, because it's completely new, you just have to listen/see/both of them...
I like trekking in the countryside, especially in the mountains. I like to swim, play frisbee and chinese chess (which is more fun than the classic chess), eat, discover new cultures and languages by traveling. Yes I really like the languages, that's why I'm a french teacher, and I like to learn a bit about every other languages. I like meeting and getting to know people through my french lessons as well.
And I like to travel and discover the world, which is logic considering what I just wrote above ;) I have great memories of people I met while traveling.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music in a jumble: blues (BB King, Buddy Guy, JL Hooker, ...), Frank Zappa, Steve Reich, Wilco, AC-DC, Henryk Górecki, Beatles, Smiths, Thin Lizzy, Magma, that kind of stuff...
Cinema: J-L. Godard, Andrei Tarkovski, Carlos Reygadas, David Lynch, Werner Herzog, Miller's Crossing (Coen brothers), Miyazaki, Mamoru Oshii, Nuri Bilge Ceylan, Semih Kaplano

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- to eat a banana in India, mmm, so tasteful! and a banana lassi, obviously...;)
- the Blue Mosque in Istanbul, it was the first time I entered a mosque, it was absolutely the opposite from what I expected by looking at it from the outside! it was bigger inside! and bright, and pure. it remains my favourite mosque of all time, until now...
- to get lost all alone in a mountain in a foreign country, and to have to rely on my instinct and thinking to find a way home. Sounds a bit crazy, hey? in these moments you can feel your emotions so purely and strongly, and you have the satisfaction of finding your way back by yourself, it's a strong experience, but not to be repeated too many time...
- to find old remains of antic times in the countryside in Turkey without expecting it, and with no mention of it in any guide book! it's quite an experience! feel like traveling in time, or to be an explorer !
- still in Turkey, some concerts of music bands playing electrified old traditional instruments like the "saz" with rock instruments: amazing!
