Summer 2008, a friend and I went to the Caribbean together and spent a week on a tiny island. One day, we went with some other people to explore a cave. It turned out you had to crawl on your hands and knees for about fifty yards through a tunnel, bats flying on either side, before the cave opened up into a cavern with candles. We lit the candles and went spelunking in a cold, freshwater pond. We found a cord which led underwater into darkness. After some investigation, we discovered a few air pockets along the line. Presumably we could have followed the line to a different way out of the cave, but none of us were willing to risk our lives to find the elusive third air pocket.
