Music, Movies, and Books
Music: The first thing I do every morning is to turn on my radio and the last thing to do in the evening is to turn it off. I'm super poor with doing playlists and mix tapes and too lazy for finding cool sound cloud or Youtube channels but I like to hear some music on the background all the time. And I like it all: jazz, blues, reggae, dance hall, evergreens, electro, trash, salsa, balkan, punk, indie rock, progressive, ambient, throat singing, Chinese pop, Gregorian chant, Tibetan mantras, classic, hc, even hip hop.. The genres I don´t enjoy that much are heavy and metal music, but I try to be tolerant... And I never run away from good parties (especially if there is a possibility for some crazy-ass dancing!).
Books: as I am studying literature everyone asks me what is my favorite book. Unfortunately I have no answer, everything is relative. There is the moment for a Russian classic, a graphic novel, poetry, american postmodernist novel, Hungarian surrealist short story -even for a harlequin. (On the contrary it's never the right time for Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time saga)
Films: I like documentary films, nature programs (with David Attenborough!), black&white silent films (e.g. by Murnau, Lang or Hitchcock), easy and happy romantic dramas, sci-fi classics, Russian avantgarde films etc. I also get some strange satisfaction when watching a-way-too-long-and-artistic-and-reputated as-great-classic-of-the-history-of-cinema like some films by Kurosawa, Resnais, Durais, Denis, Greenaway.. (pro in namedropping! :-D) And YES, I did watch Béla Tarr's Sátántangó and I liked it!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Only one? Impossible. I have had many amazing experiences.
Saw full solar eclipse from the door step of a Tibetan buddhist monastry situated in the mountainside.
Experienced full, pink moon setting in Santorini, seen with a loved one.
Looked at Sun that never sets in Nordkapp - the northernmost point in Europe.
Met a mummified cow's body on the shore of Lake Baikal.
Climbed on a top of the mountain in the Dolomiti.
Done somersaults in a sand dune in Gobi desert.
Lived two weeks in a teepee in a Swedish forest cooking vegan food for Swedish hippies.
Learned to eat peanuts with chopsticks in China.
Did parachute jump in the southernmost point of Finland.
Fulfilled a longtime dream of going from Moscow to Peking by train.
Traveling itself is amazing. Is that a bit lame...?
Teach, Learn, Share
I would like to...
...learn to play guitar better
...improve my language skills
...hear your story/stories
...eat in a vegetarian Michelin star restaurant
...climb to many mountains
...go to a parachute jump course
...develop my creativity (got any ideas?)
...have a rescued cat when I have a place and life situation suitable for pets
I could teach you...
...I know at least the basics of many things, just ask!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Hopefully a good couchsurfing experience
