ABOUT ME
I've lived in five states, which I don't think has been too many, but it has definitely played with my concept of "home". Born in Florida, moved to Alabama, moved back to Florida, moved to Virginia, went to college in North Carolina, moved to South Dakota. Now living in Germany, which feels more like home to me than the US (I can't articulate precisely why).
I am currently working as a Fremdsprachassistentin in Bamberg through the Paedagogischer Austauchdienst. Last year, I lived and worked in Berlin with a Fulbright grant, and I still miss it. My plan is to stay in Germany somehow, either in Berlin with a real job or working as a teacher on a military base in Bavaria.
PHILOSOPHY
For the time being, I am narrow-mindedly (a real word?) set on living in Germany. So everything I do is to accomplish this goal.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have surfed before, but I have not been able to host. I really can't wait to show CSers around Bamberg, though. One day... when I get a couch...
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've gone to plenty of meetings in Berlin and had my first couch surfing experience in Rome.

Music, Movies, and Books

books: The Oxford English Dictionary
authors: Faulkner, O'Connor, Steinbeck, Sedaris (both), Shakespeare, Palahnuik
music: all genres, but I'm going on an oldies kick at the moment (Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye, The Monkees, Herman's Hermits, The Kinks, The Beatles)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
This is probably the most dorky answer, but the Ishtar Gate always brings me to tears.
But I think one of the most amazing (but common and over-looked) things that one can do in a new city is to simply sit with a beer or coffee and people-watch.
