About Me

Hi! I´m an easy-going, open-minded guy. I'm a Designer in San Francisco. I like traveling (of course :), design and visual things, movies, cooking, the outdoors, cooking outdoors, camping, football (soccer), staying active, and making things with my hands.
I discovered couchsurfing back in 2009, and surfed a lot when I was traveling around the world for year. Traveling and meeting new people, experiencing new customs, languages, smells, sights, and sounds make me happy. :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I discovered Couchsurfing back in 2009! It's a wonderful way to travel and to meet people from different places, with different perspectives. I can't imagine my adventures without this community.

Interests

I studied Design and I'm really fascinated with cities and the challenges of urbanism. Music is a big part of my life, as well as cooking/food. I really enjoy the outdoors, camping, backpacking, hiking. I like listening to international news and interviews with authors, actors, and thinkers. I also like making things, especially designing and building furniture and other objects.

Music, Movies, and Books

Always in my rotation: Bob Dylan, The Strokes, Van Morrison, David Bowie, Miles Davis, Bob Marley, Otis Redding, Al Greene, D'jango Reinhardt, Coltrane, Bill Withers, the Velvet Underground and The Beatles.

Favorite Books: Currently reading the Adventures of Augie March, by Saul Bellow. Hemmingway- The Sun Also Rises, Old Man and the Sea, Nick Adams Stories, Short Stories; The Moviegoer by Walker Percy; Cannery Row, Of Mice Of Men, J. Steinbeck; The Stranger, Camus; The Alchemist, Coelho; the Count of Monte Cristo (I am Edmond Dantes), and the Three Muskateers, Dumas; Benjamin Franklin's Autobiography; Miles Davis' Autobiography; Catcher in the Rye.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiking the Camino De Santiago from the border of France/Spain to the Atlantic. Everyday, after a day of hiking in the rain, we drank great spanish wine and ate dinner until we were full while our clothes dried. During the hike, just past the mountain town of O´Cebreiro in Galecia, we came upon this quiet, unknown valley where I swear time did not exist. I truly didn´t understand what was meant by ¨breathtaking¨ until then.

Teach, Learn, Share

Happy to talk about design and pretty much everything else. For all long-term travelers, read Vagabonding by Rolf Potts. If you're going hiking, prevent blisters by rubbing a thin layer of vaseline all over your feet (I hiked 1000+ km and didn't get one blister).

What I Can Share with Hosts

Unfortunately, my roommates won't allow me to host, but I'm happy to show visitors around. I enjoy showing people the Mission neighborhood in San Francisco and also Stanford University and Palo Alto.
