About Me
Update: February, 2017
Hello - whomever!
I'm 34. American. Gay. Curious... and live for a sense of wonder and connection.
I've had the privilege of living in Africa, Europe, and North America - and have either breezed through, had a few touristic weeks, or spent extended time exploring 35 countries - and counting. (I'm typing this from a cafe in Kathmandu - it's my fourth visit to Nepal, which has captured my heart and enchanted and widened a sense of prospect.)
After an intense upbringing by Evangelicals in the sticks of southwest Michigan (the nearest traffic light was 17 miles away), I went on to earn three liberal arts degrees before working in HIV prevention counseling and education for over four years in Kalamazoo, Michigan. I then volunteered for a year in rural Namibia as a grade 8 teacher and school librarian before a five-month stint in Chicago working with homeless youth. Then, at 27, I "retired" from the social services and moved to Madrid, where I reinvented myself as an erotic masseur (of men) for 20 months... I then escorted and massaged my way across Europe and the States with extended bouts of intercontinental travel, all while living strictly out of a suitcase for 2 1/2 years... then moved to New York City in 2014 and cultivated a more holistic practice as a sex coach and erotic mentor. Now I'm preparing to more-or-less "retire" and take a year or two off before providing guidance and mentorship by phone, world-over. :)
I'm kind, wisdom-welcoming, and imbued with personality - an introvert who enjoys purposeful encounters with others. Delighting foremost in details, I prefer to keep things paced. Reading (Watts! Whitman! Emerson!), writing (ask for my blog, but do note that I will not be working while staying with you), and travel - nature, culture, individuals... - are my prime passions.
I value thoughtfulness. I'm grateful for the freedom of choosing how I perceive a given situation. Life is fascinating.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I couchsurfed once in Israel, then three times in Europe in 2012 and once in Nashville in 2013. All were with exceptional folks who enhanced my experience of their respective cities. We remain friends.
I anticipate a time or two it's bound to be more pleasant to couchsurf than to stay in a guesthouse... and will broaden my understanding of that locale. :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Boating on the Okavango Delta in Botswana with three good volunteer friends, and sleeping in a small tent all huddled together, a bit afraid, as hippos munched on grass while nudging the tent... Then boating back the next morning with the threat of being "mock charged" by an elephant as our guides, Kamalula Happy Jesus Day and Letter, rowed us as quickly as humanly possible away from danger as we naively gazed at the most glorious sunset.
Teach, Learn, Share
What was it Maya once said? "If you learn something, teach it - if you get, give." Something akin to that. :)
What I Can Share with Hosts
A wealth of experience and, more profoundly, accrued insight into the bigger thing underneath the immediate desire - or impression. I'm intuitive and love digging into wisdom with fellow seekers. :)
