About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learn, share, love.

ABOUT ME

I live in Humboldt Co. California behind the protection of the Redwood Curtain in the Land of Milk and Honey. Just finished earning a teaching credential. Now working to dust off a masters in stream restoration in hopes of being part of a high school classroom where we get to learn by working with streams.

PHILOSOPHY

Burn bright while we can and then make good compost for the next round.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Would be stoked to help wrench anyone's bike back into great shape.
Chat in a flowing manner that leads to a synergistic generation of thoughts.
Pull weeds and harvest snails.
Cook up breakfast and dinners.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Still wet behind the ears as far as official CSing goes.
Hosted surfers from message board at CO-OP.
I've been picked up off the road by kind hearts while bicycle touring.

Interests

cooking, growing food (especially rice), compost, greywater, bicycle touring, trail running, interpreting stream health through the bugs, urban stream daylighting/restoration, teaching high school in a way that makes real life fun.

Music, Movies, and Books

Top books = Where the Red Fern Grows & Gone with the Wind. Reading these books gave me the feeling of having lived an extra life.

Movie wise: I thought The Fog of War was an inspirational effort to share hindsight in hopes of creating better foresight. The Future of Food is pretty strong too.
Been meaning to watch Airplane, it looks hysterical.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

From the top of a volcano in Ecuador, saw the divide of night and day split down the mtn out across the plains and up into the sky through the middle of a full moon.

Got to ride bicycle across the United States and camp out all along the way. People were so friendly, the experience really helped me appreciate the US.

Teach, Learn, Share

Bicycle wrenching-if calories in food are converted to gasoline a person can ride a bike across the USA on less then 10 gallons (depending how much gear is carried).

Composting tend to happen the fastest when the moisture is that of a wrung out sponge.

Ecuador, Mexico
