About Me
CURRENT MISSION
It's time for me to get out and see this world
ABOUT ME
Let's see.
I'm a bit of a puppy. Bouncy, fun.
I do whatever it is I'm doing with earnestness, but not with too much seriousness. It's a motto of mine: fun and serious aren't opposites; you can take fun seriously.
I'm a wanderer at heart, and love to explore a new place for its beautiful nooks and crannies. For the hidden vistas.
I love the experience of feeling enveloped by beauty. Beauty, wonder, awe. The best.
Sometimes, I like to leave it all on the dance floor. To romp around town laughing like a wolf with a pack of folks who will howl to the moon.
Other times you'll find me quietly curled up in the sun with a good book. Or poking around just to see what's hidden there.
I deeply appreciate when other's share what is beautiful about themselves, and I try to make spaces feel safe to do so.
Really, though, the best sense of me you're going to get from here is to listen to the language. This really is me coming through in the writing. I can't write like anybody other than myself.
MY PHILOSOPHY
Find your own pace, move at your own pace, trust your own pace.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Despite the fact that I've been on this site a long time, I've never been a very active participant. I look forward to the time when I have enough space to host people traveling through.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Very little. But there's plenty of time yet.
Interests
Music! The most difficult thing about traveling for me is that I don't have a piano. Because I love to play piano. With folks, on my own; for others and for myself.
And live music is So Good! Any show, Any performance, Any chance encounter with musicians just playin' away. Yes. I love it.
Probably my favorite thing to do on the weekend is find a show where there are musicians who love to play what they play, and a crowd who wants to share how awesome it is with each other.
If you give me the chance to, I'll talk your ear off about whiskey.
Yoga is also a big part of my life. Breath and move; work the body, still the mind. Uncover and release the things I'm carrying that are make it hard to flow.
And forests. I love forests and trees and hiking. Love it.

How about a list?
Songs: St. Elmo's Fire by Brian Eno, Suits are Picking Up the Bill by the Squirrel Nut Zippers, Nutty by Thelonious Monk, String Quartet in A minor Op. 132 by Beethoven, Earth and Sky by Tea Leaf Green
And my favorite song to play: Mad Rush by Philip Glass
But I should be honest too. For me, It's all about Live Music! Most any band, playing almost anywhere. I like my music still breathing.
Books: Smile in a Mad Dog's I by Ralph Stine, The Garden of Abdul Gasazi by Chris Van Allsburg, Steppenwolf by Herman Hesse, The history of Sexuality, Vol. 1 from Foucault, Six Nonlectures by EE Cummings, The Cremation of Sam McGee by Robert Service, The Leviathan by Hobbes, The Garden of Eden by Hemingway, Mickelsson's Ghosts by John Gardner
Favorite Movie: The Big Lebowski.
Sometimes I wish I could say something different. Something a little more interesting or powerful, perhaps. But if I said anything else, I'd be lying.
Also, Princess Mononoke. Wet Hot American Summer. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
On top of a tower of rock, with a view in all directions of a desert basin, in the middle of a week when my lonely soul found another lonely soul and we fell head over heels in love, I lay on my back and watched the full moon rise behind me as the warm sun set in front of me.
Teach, Learn, Share
Piano, Whiskey, Western philosophical thought. These are my areas of knowledge, and I'd love to share them.
But also, I love to share perspectives. I think of myself as a reflective person. I really appreciate getting to share the things I've discovered that have endowed me with a joyous and patient perspective.
But that is certainly not the only way to go through life. I would love to learn from you how you go about living yours.
