ABOUT ME
I am a bit of a dreamer and a wonderer. I love exploring new cities but my thoughts always wonder back to a place where I can have my veggie patch, a couple of chickens, a husky, a lama and uninvited guests. Uninvited guests meaning cats. Recently where ever I go to I end up with a cat in my lap, one that I do no own and does not own me.
Going to markets, antique shops, second hand shops is part of my weekly routine.
I'm passionate and involved in Art so it goes without saying it's part of my everyday routine, habits, knowledge and interests revolve around it.
I'd like to think that I'm a easy going person, but make sure you talk to me after my first cup of coffee ;)
PHILOSOPHY
"Education is an admirable thing, but it is well to remember from time to time that nothing that is worth knowing can be taught."
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
My own profile to couchsurfing is new as I have always been tagging along on someone else's. Now that I'm travelling for a year or two it's time to fly solo!
I am happy to meet and share advice, adventures and directions.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My first couchsurfing experience was in Delhi. When I arrived I realised I wasn't ready for the chaos especially after a long flight. My couchsurfer came to resque me from the airport and all I was thinking was how to you get out of this traffic (people) jam, I'm from Africa but this is something else! After lots of hooting, noise, and cows we arrived at our forst destination - food. I was excited to have my first authentic Indian curry, but to my disappointment we went to a Subway? It was there that I realised Couchsurfing is not about having a tour guide but about sharing and exchanging knowledge. This experience was about him wanting to relate to me. It goes both ways but I think I'm the one who got most in the end :)
Interests
Forgotten objects, postcards, photographs, books and maps found at markets, second hand stores or just along the street. Wildflowers and edible weeds. Street cats. Coffee and wine. Spices and tea. Shapes in wood, clouds and fire. Pocket knives and old wives. And google.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm interested in a directors work, some of my favourites are:Sofia Coppola, Andrei Tarkovsky, Stanley Kubrick, Lars Von Trier, Michel Gondry and Hayao Myazaki.
I'm enjoying The National, Chet Faker, Grizzly Bear,Devendra Banhart, John Maus and Matthew Herbert at the moment.
This American Life Public Radio is and has been consuming quite a few hours of my life!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Scuba diving in Kenya's Wasini Isands, swimming in New Zealand's turgoise lakes, stroking a Protea flower growing in The Karoo, South Africa. Being in Nature is always the most wonderful place to be no matter where.
Teach, Learn, Share
I always looking to learn more about living sustainability, whether it's gathering mushrooms or learning about edible weeds.
I'd prefer to experiment together with new recipes, clay, mud film, paint, climbing, walking, biking, fishing and foresting food to see who teaches who what.
