Overview
About Me
My name is Koby. I hail from Utah where I was born and raised. I recently lived in South Dakota where I received my Associates degree in Environmental Science from Sitting Bull College. I have been traveling since I was awarded my degree, in search of the life outside my normal boundaries and experiences.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am uprooting a lot at this point in my life. I have traveled more in the last two years than in my life's entirety. I thought it would be a great time to reach out to the Couchsurfing community that I have heard so much about. One of my close friends uses Couchsurfing almost religiously when she is traveling, in the states or abroad. She told me of all the amazing experiences she has gone through and all the hospitality along the way. I had to have a resource of open-minded people on the road, how could I not?
Interests
I enjoy music and have a large collection of vinyls I have collected over the years. I also dabble in my own music productions where I mix sampled vinyl with synthesized sound. I am also very interested in the environment, specifically mycology, and would hope to have a career in the field one day. I truly enjoy the mountains. The clean air and beautiful hikes keep me smiling, I can't seem to get enough. At the end of every summer, I attend Burning Man in the Black Rock Desert. This is one of my homes on this planet, where I go to see old friends and bring new ones into my life (it is actually the reason I ended up in South Dakota).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I was accepted as a researcher in Arizona. I was tasked with mapping a volcano from top to bottom based on different eruptive deposition. This took about a month and a half of actual mapping.
I also went to Costa Rica to do research on mosquito populations. I will be returning to be a mentor in the coming months.
