Overview
About Me
I smile a lot, just about very ordinairy things. I like talking about ordinairy things too (I have a degree in small talk), but I surely respect the peace and quiet. I joke a lot, mostly sarcasm. Deal with it.
PHILOSOPHY
If you turn down someone else's light, yours won't shine any brighter.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I can't host because I lack the space for it, only by exception it has proved to be possible.
Instead I can offer my knowledge. I moved to Amsterdam 7 years ago, so I have my favorite spots around town now and very willing to share. Other options: a (bring your own) bike tour to the best parks of town, or visit the markets.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I got to know couchsurfing through my friends, who did have space to host unlike me. It encouraged me to get a profile and start meeting travellers.
As for my surfing experience; I have surfed quite some times in my month of travelling through Scandinavia, and I had a really good time with my hosts, their friends and other surfers. I hope to be able to host again when I move to a bigger appartment. Some day.
Interests
Languages Indo-european to Finno-Ugric.
Taking pictures analogue 35mm and my awesome Nokia N8 12mp.
Cooking I have some specialties and I love cooking for people who are hungry.
Music How did I arrange the soundtrack to my life before Spotify?
As a teacher I've become more interested in how people (re)act when they're in a group. Really, it's fascinating.

Music, Movies, and Books
I think this is the point in my life where I can no longer refuse to make a big list of all movies i've seen, books i've read and music I have danced to.
Yet, I refuse to.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I saw a dog in a wheelchair once. He seemed happy though. Recently I saw a dog that got stuck on the rooftop because it jumped out of a window. He was rescued when neighbors teamed up.
And that one time I accidentally woke up at 5am, raced my bike to the city and saw the sunrise over the prettiest canals of Amsterdam.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am fascinated by languages and the silly cultural things that come with them, so.. teach me all about your language! I'm crazy about Finnish. In exchange, I can tell you what I think are the typical things of Dutch that express our way of thinking and acting.
Music is important for me; I don't think that needs explanation. This is the best thing in life to share! In a legal downloadish kind of way, ofcourse. I could also teach you some basics on the piano :)
Learn: how about which place to go in town? Or else some foul expressions in local language, that's always a guaranteed laugh.
