Hey there!

I'm Kolja, in my early 30s and after studying for quite some time I'm working in the field of political education/anti-discrimination. I'm now living in Cologne, Germany. I got into the whole CouchSurfing thing when I was living in Toronto in 2009/2010 (which now seems aaaageees ago..)

I'm an open-minded person, generally outgoing and I really like to have a laugh here and there. So you can easily joke around with me but at the end of the day I´m probably more of a serious character. I'm a leftist and concerned about social and environmental issues (in these days especially about the rise of anti-immigration politics, racism, anti-semitism, sexism and neo-fascism in Europe..). I'm vegan, I'm interested in more sustainable ways of living and I love communal living projects.

I love music ("indie" pop, singer/songwriter stuff, screamo/hardcore,..)

I love cozy (preferably independent and vegan-friendly!) cafes/pubs/restaurants/book stores/record shops and always try to find those places in the cities I visit.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

Unfortunately I haven't been able to host so far because my flats have always been always too small or my roomies wouldn't agree with it. I´d say that so far I've primarily contributed in being a friendly and engaged person.

I'm excited about the CS project which helped me to get in touch with so many fascinating people (especially in Toronto) and I've often had good times with CSers. So far I´ve only had positive experiences and hope that there are more to come. As soon as I have the possibility I plan to host people as well.

Algo increíble que he hecho

Travelled across Canada by train. Lived on a beautiful BC island for a week. Taken the ferry from Vancouver Island up to Alaska. Hitchhiked in the Yukon territory and volunteered on an organic farm in Dawson City.

Spent some time doing human rights observations in Chiapas, Mexico.
