About Me

After 8 years of working as a marketing slave for big companies, I finally decided to do the hard thing and started looking for activities that would fulfill a longing for a sense of purpose in my life. Now I'm working in a Czech NGO, helping to improve the teaching system in the Czech Republic, and I'm finally happy.

I also consider myself to be an active and creative person. Here are some things I enjoy doing:

🎧 I love listening to music, I play cajon, and I've started to learn piano again. We have a rap band called Beetroot Wellington with a few of my friends. As a result, I've started learning how to produce music in Ableton. If you like music, we'd definitely get along.

📚 I like to read and love to write. There are several projects in my head that I'd like to put on paper one day (currently, I'm writing some cyberpunk short stories, for example). I wrote a screenplay for a kids' TV show in the past. We also had a small poetry project with some of my friends.

🎭 I'd love to watch more movies, read more books, and attend more concerts. There's never enough inspiration one can get into their system, I guess. Maybe you could help me with that by giving me some tips? Maybe we can go see something together one day?

🥘 I love to cook. Currently, I'm working on a recipe for the best focaccia in Central Europe. If you're vegan or vegetarian, I'd love to share some recipes. If you're not, maybe I could show you another side of the culinary world.

🧗‍♂️ A few years ago, I took up climbing. We can go and challenge some bouldering walls in your city or go for a hike and try to climb some real rocks (that's something I've always wanted to try). I can also show you an amazing bouldering pub just around the corner from my house in Prague.

❤️ Overall, I'd consider myself an easygoing, talkative, and open-minded person. I love deep conversations and meeting new people, as well as spending some time alone in solitude. I'm still learning to balance those "two wolves" within me so they don't prey on each other.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love Prague and the Czech Republic for so many things. Having lived here my whole life, I consider myself a proud Prager. I can show you places no tourist guide will and help you navigate the city like a true local. However, there are times when I feel isolated from the rest of the world here.

I've heard that Czechs were Tolkien's inspiration for hobbits, and I believe there's some truth to that. We have everything here, but sometimes it feels more like a demo version of the "real world out there." Sometimes, I feel the need to venture into the bigger world or meet a traveler and learn what's really happening out there.

Of course, hosting you with homemade kombucha or freshly baked bread is part of my hobbit duty.

Interests

Overall, I'd say my creative focus revolves around crafting stories and worlds. 🐉 A year ago, I started a Dungeons & Dragons campaign with a few friends to explore a fantasy world of my own creation. When it comes to writing, I enjoy focusing on supernatural and magical places, creatures, and scenarios.

In real life, I enjoy viewing things from a broader perspective. 🌍 I'm interested in politics, current affairs, new inventions, and philosophical perspectives on the world. I'd say my interests lie in mapping out the world(s) and placing information into a broader context.

Music, Movies, and Books

Here’s a list of artists from my recent Spotify plays, which shows why I can’t pinpoint a specific music genre: Bejo, Mac Miller, Action Bronson, Jonwayne, Tom Misch, GoGo Penguin, Fink, Knucks, Jamiroquai... and more.

In books, at the moment, my main focus is on fantasy. 🧙‍♂️ I recently started reading The Witcher and I’m loving it. Terry Pratchett is always my go-to author. But I also really enjoy contemporary fiction in literature, sci-fi is a genre I’m currently exploring more and more...

Also I despise no spiritual or self-transformational book which contents the real wisdom.

My taste in movies varies widely. I’m drawn to anything with a meaningful plot or well-developed characters. 🎬 I appreciate craftsmanship in the film industry, whether it’s independent festival films or major Nolan blockbusters, as long as it offers something new.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Here are three: I climbed a 3750m high peak in Peru, I had a company making a dulce de lece style caramel cream and for a little while I owned a pub in a small Czech village.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you to bake the best focaccia (unless you’re Italian—in that case, I’d be the one learning from you, haha). If you're struggling with art or creativity, I can definitely help with that. I can also use my marketing and brand-building skills if you have a business in development. We can definitely talk things through.
